Rob, lets break it down a bit right.

Fighter - Makes money.

General Boxing fan - Generally follows boxing.

Avid Boxing Fan - Knows the WBU is pants and worthless. ( Myself, Yourself etc etc )

Avid boxing fan, or be it ex amatuer, ex pro etc knows "Fighter" needs to make money. Or should i say have a better understanding...or you would expect so.

Avid boxing fan understands that "Fighter" will naturally tell media etc i won the WBU belt as he is trying to market himself.

Fighter knows "Avid Boxing Fan" knows the title dosent hold much water.

Ok, as i said many moons ago in the previous discussion on Limonds, maybe just maybe see it from the boys point of view.

Do you know it ?

Maybe he is proud to win it ?

Many fighters were but more so they were proud they WON.

This "Me and Dunky" were the only ones not rimming Limond is pish.

You are very correct regarding its a Forum and everyones got a right to an opinion. I myself think that many fighters dont, NOT because of the worry or or **** poor rants they may expect and yeah why not, its a Forum as you have mentioned but more so " Why would i waste my time there ? "

He wasnt the first to fight for it, he wont be the last........originally when he fought for it , he was using HIS cash etc.....this was pointed out but you obviously know better.

I see the WBU everywhere, do i care for it nah. Wanna know how many local papers i have seen time after time with McAllister alone talking of it ? Yeah a lot.

On a final matter, you have probably given more advertisment and endorsement for this belt than any fighter or promoter yet regarding your threads on it.

You make him sound like a "badman" as he is the only person fighting for it, with it etc.

Maybe they, the WBU wanted to get it some recognition and offered Limond a fair whack to fight for it ?

I aint a Pro, i dont fight for money. Been around them, trained etc sure, certainly have. Try not to see it from the outside looking in. Try the other way.

You say you go to fights, watch a lot, done some training and you do a lot of good posting here, i certainly think you do. This is partly why i believe there is more to this than simply just some difference of opinion.

Eg. Having a rip into Pro's etc online ? Ego thing ?

rob another fine example of your lack of boxing knowledge mate,limond has just boxed 12 rounds and you want him to do another 10 less than 5 weeks later,the body needs to rest after such fights,your not thinking of the boxers there rob,but eh get dave to call alex morrison? then you can add matchmaker to your list of achivements.

This title is all about raising Willie's profile and earning a bit of cash. He's been overlooked so many times this was one of the options open to him to get to the top. Can you seriously blame him?

 

fighters will be proud of any belt they get,its a hard trade,and if they get more money,good on them.
we know the WBU is a load of ****,but off cause limmond is gonna big it up,he will be proud of it,its a nice belt to show his kids and the WBU will be his paymasters for a while.
i had a mate who won the central area belt,over the moon he was and we were happy as larry and really proud of him,and a touch jealous at the same time.
these belts are stepping stones for bigger things,and maybe willie will get better things from it,i say go for it mate,if it were me i would

 

If he's getting an extra few grand a fight for having a WBU belt then good on him. He's putting food on the table for his kids, you can't knock a bloke for doing that.

Having eight rounders and 'keep yourself busy' fights whilst waiting for a British or Commonwelth title shot is all good and well but they don't pay the bills.

 

Unbelievable how people defend the WBU now. Everyone knows if no one from boxing circles were on ESB we would be ripping the **** out of the WBU. If this was the WBU associated with Frank Warren, you guys wouldn't let him hear the end of it.

Tell it like it is, the WBU is a piece of **** that disgraces our beloved sport.

Limond is a quality fighter who needs to understand this sport is a business. Stir some ****, turn up at Murrays next press conference and call him out. Turn up and Khans next press conference (though too late now) and say you gave him his real first loss. Start making some quotables. When you get a big fight, take page out of Hayes book and wear a t shirt that stirs some ****. Don't get too big for your boots and call out Marquez but there is no reason why you can't do this **** on the domestic scene and still get it televised on ITV, Sky and Setanta. No ****ing excuse for fighting for the WBU.

You are a product, accept this and act like one then the money will come.
