I agree with Dunky's & Chesh's posts, Salita isn't all that great. If you ask your boy Tony Montana he'd say he's a great big ***** waiting to get ****ed.

Why he would ever consider turning down this chance is ludicrous.

    Go on Wullie son.

Because if he puts on a good show or even beat Salita, you better believe you will be greater noticed than if you boxed at the Kircaldy Arena. There are scouts, promoters always at the Garden and such venues.

Salita is ranked #2 by the WBA and this fight would be 3rd/4th on the card meaning it may or may not get tv exposure . But if it didn't he'd still be fighting in front of more people than he normally does and some of these people just happen to have a big influence in boxing .

Beating Salita would probably get him another fight in America against another American(and possibly down at his preffered Lightweight too) ,there is lot of exposure and possible money in this for Limond .

If I was in his position I would go for it because he may never get another opportunity like this again.

He should take the chance I believe - what an experience.

However the main question to come out of that article for me is, how the bloody hell is Earl anywhere near a world title eliminator ????

i dont think this earl fight was an eliminator, their 1st scheduled fight was, but i think this one was a defence of limond ibo intercontinental belt.

Its good to see that the vast majority here agree with my good self that Limond should pack his bags & head overseas, its simply a chance to make himself a name in the states, something his countrymen Harrison or Arthur havent done...

As I say, Im a massive Limond fan. After Khan though, I thought Willie had lost his chance of getting a big name fighter in the ring & beating him. They say lightning doesnt strike twice, but Willie has got the chance to make a massive name for himself if he takes the Salita fight. & its winnable, more winnable than Khan IMO.

& while of course I ***** & moan about Hatton, I have to give him his dues. Hes told Limond to get his arse over to the USA pronto, & its great advice. Hatton could easily have gotten jealous about Limond beating a prospect like Salita & gave him bad advice, but Ricky acted like a true friend should.

If limond takes this fight, I promise I will never have a bad word to say about Ricky again. & Im serious. Cos if Limond takes this fight, its because of Hatton.
Cos to me, Willie sounds like hes a bit too worried. & Im worried he will blow the chance of a lifetime.

    It's Madison Square Garden, man.
I'll repeat that again...Madison Square Garden.

That's a big mark on any fighters resume, doesn't matter if you were only watched by one man and his dog...it's still MSG.

Would be quite ironic if Willie fights at the garden and Khan gets derailed without ever reaching those heights.

    He should definately take it.

there was a documentary about salita on bbc three of four a few months ago. Apparently he's got a huge jewish following but from what I could see in the doc, this is an very winnable fight for wullie as salita looked like he could be outboxed and has been wrapped in cotton wool so far.
