This fight disgusts me. It is a good British scrap that is tainted by the WBU piece of ****. This could be a 135 British title eliminator.

I don't buy the bollocks that it being a title fight sells more. Get back to the good old days of British scraps and people will turn up to see a good domesitc fight. Mainstream fans who don't know **** buy into the WBU bollocks. People need to be re-educated about a new boxing game. Less titles, more competative fights. The champs, no matter what belt, mean something. The contenders don't need trinkets to mean something.

Long ago, good fights were appreciated. This is a decent fight but not with the WBU piece of **** casting a shadow over it.

 

Maybe get a few tips from john simpson he fought barrett in his 1st defence of his british title and destroyed him in 5 i think. finished it with a wicked body shot though ithink barrett was drained at the weight

Get off your high horse Billy with your disrespect. I never said Willie couldn't beat all of the lightweights in GB, I just criticised why he was bothering with the WBU.

So he should start beating these current British Lightweights. Barrett is a good start, but how about Godwin whatshisname or that last minute replacement for him he fought a couple of months back.

I wish Limond the best of luck, but only after hes done with this WBU garbage.

Chris and Grievsy, you must of not seen the big thread on Limmond fighting the the WBU from a few months back. Everyone on this forum was slagging of the WBU and then Willie came on himself to defend his decision to fight for it.

Everyone begun ass licking Limmond saying "well done willie youve gotta make a living" and "you totally beat khan" bull****. I was the only one that told willie straight up fighting for the wbu was was a load of crap. we argued back and forth for a couple of days and not one person on this forum backed me up until Dunky came in and agreed with me. I would of honestly left the forum if Dunky had not back me up.

 

Calm down it's just a belt. It's not gonna make the fight any less entertaining, even if it's not going to get Willie anywhere.

 

lets put our cards on the table,willie is a good lad who has had some great fights,but no disrespect to him ,a world title shot ,the promoters are fooling the public and making a mockery of pro boxing,why not go for someone like prescott and give the public something to watch,i would pay to see that fight,but willie against barret ,no chance,willie will murder barret.if you cant win a British title you shouldnt be fighting for a world title end of story.

so rob you being an expert on boxing who im sure knows the BBBC's rules outside in,why did amir get a long count against willie,for you to think that he never would be totally wrong you,credit to amir who came back in that fight and done well,buy surely limond should have been given a re-match or pushed to some other title,people now how good he is and simole dont fancy it

 

The Commonwealth Ligthweight belt is vacant now Khan has given it up. I don't know how the CBB work it, but I'd imagine Willie could easily get a shot at it?

And as has been shown plenty of times before, recently with Broadhurst and Barker (providing he beats McDermott) is that having the Commonwealth belt leads you to the British title.

And will the public honestly be fooled by "world title" nonsense? Forget the big shows that the likes of Calzaghe, Khan and Hatton etc. had, a relatively small show like this would really only attract Boxing fans, not the casual group. And the majority of Boxing fans know that WBU is worthless and not one of the four or five actual world titles. Obviously there will be people there cheering for Willie and all the boxers, but the kind of people who go to these typical small hall shows know that the WBU isn't a world title.

So the promoters may charge that bit more for a "world title" fight, but I can't see it attracting many more fans than a good, honest scrap for a vacant Commonwealth title-or even a British title eliminator.

 

lee mc allistair as managed to be nominated to box the african manditory challenger for the vacant title june 19th.how either of these two could fight for the vacant title which willie held is unbeleivable.
