Willie Limond turns to promoting; Shoots for the WBU world title

Correct. There was a time when the BBBofC only sanctioned WBC title fights until a certain fish faced promoter, who shall remain nameless, started demanding otherwise.

 

Am pretty sure the WBU gets you more coin than defending the British for example, according to a fighter that posted on here,maybe i picked it up wrong. As Reilly says it helps sell the bill.

Limond is just wanting a fight after all the ****ing around he has had to endure.

you should all be praising willie for putting his money were his mouth is,hes been in the top 4 lightweights since he fought khan so he more than deserves this chance to establish himself.

 

Thats all well & good Billy, & I have always been a fan of Limond, the fighter & the person.

However, as a true boxing fan I like many others HATE the WBU, its an awful title.

You cant expect people to lavish praise when the WBU title has been classed as a joke here since I started posting here, 5 long years ago!

 

I love Japan now. We shouldn't sanction any fights for these small trinkets. Perhaps allow IBF and WBO but ideally dont.

 

Bizarre, the same belt Lee McAllister dropped so he could fight for the British Title.

I dont think it is really a problem him fighting for the WBU,i would put it down more as it makes promoting a show a bit more glamerous.And billy were not havign a go a t willie were meerly making a comment about the belt ,

 

seriously Willie Limmond is a half decent domestic name. I am sure he could get a British title fight with Murrary or Euro with Thaxton. at the very least he could get a a final eliminator. even an all scottish clash with Lee McAllister which would pass for the scottish title and british eliminator.

the WBU is bull****. willie DO NOT DO IT.

it used to be the case that the WBU would make a fighter more cash. but the british and commonwealth titles will mean sky, setanta, itv will want to show the card, meaning more cash.
