As you mentioned about Carl Froch i totally agree but maybe he should go tell them , "Hey i won the REAL belt but hey i aint the best yet" and if he dosent, then would that make him wrong too ? Should he make a point of explaining it all to others ala general boxing fans and telling them not to come see the champion when he is fighting a non madatory ?

how you doing rob, theres a lot of politics in boxing, i am not with any top promoter so therefor it is very hard for me to walk into a title fight like british, eurorean, or commonwealth, i would love nothing more to get a shot at those titles, but as it stands its not gonna happen, now im fighting for the WBU and if i win it, you wont hear me saying im the best lightweight in the world, so im trying to run a few shows to keep my self and other boxers who are my mates busy, but you cant put a show on and top the bill with a 6,8, or 10 rounder and sell the place out, and to be fair mate the WBU has opened a lot of doors for other fighters, so im happy to try the same thing they did, and a lot of good fighters have held the belt to be fair, but on the other hand everyone is entitled to their opinion, but i would ask you how you can lose respect for someone if you dont know them or know the situation ther'e in. im happy to answer anyones questions, you all know that anyway

You wouldn't need the WBU money if the Khan referee was able to count.

Antics like that are far worse than you utilizing the WBU title as a tool to promote your event.

I'd reckon 95% of this forum don't blame you for doing that, and you certainly wouldn't lose anyone's respect.

Belts bring the punters in and attract better opposition because more money can be made if you have one around your waist. That goes for all belts. It's just the way it is. Better, more motivated opposition means better fights. So...why the hell would boxing fans complain when they very well know boxing is a BUSINESS is beyond me.

They slag you off for doing your best to get the best fights by any means you can, so you can make a living and climb up the rankings as best you can, but they let champions off the hook and even praise them when they drop belts and pick and choose soft fights instead, ducking unknown/unheralded mandatory challengers who deserve a title shot in the process, playing the risk/reward card, once they're in a position to do so...amazing!:roll::-(

Good luck to you, mate! Hope you and your mates get this show going and stay busy whilst you wait for the better fights. If I still lived in Scotland, I'd come and help you organise the whole thing, I really would.

Don't listen to him.

For a fighter like yourself, I'm sure the WBU offers a reasonable payday and it HAS got people a few decent opportunities, even though the belt is virtually worthless in itself. I've no idea why and how it seems to do this, it must have a few people fooled, but nobody can blame a boxer for taking advantage of it.

I would do it myself if I had a lack of opportunities. He doesn't realise this is a career and life we're talking about, not just an idealistic view of things.
