Apparently he is fighting for his life after suffering a seizure whilst driving; wishing him all the best. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/scots-boxing-hero-willie-limond-32545732
One day he is preparing for a fight then this sad news. A real fighting man and hopefully he pulls through making the best recovery possible.
With all due respect to Limond he probably should have called it a day a few years back; perversely, if some good should come of this, then I hope Limond packs in any notion of returning to the ring whilst returning back to full health.
The fight he had with Burns back in September was brutal, took far too much punishment for someone at 45, but thats's what warriors do. Hope he pulls through ok.
Limond always rebounds so fingers crossed he rebounds from this too. A real pro, nearly 25 years in the pro game. Really hope he pulls through. Since I left the UK 20 years ago it has been difficult to keep up with all the British fighters. I remember a gallant Willie dropping Amir Khan but I didn´t think I´d hear much more from him again. A few years later he pops up in Mexico fighting Erik Morales! Tried his best but hard to come back from that defeat but next I see him on Burns´ world title defense undercard as reigning Commonwealth champ and he then wins the British title. What a comeback! Kudos to the guy for always coming back and I wish him and all his family a lot of luck in the future.
That last fight against Ricky Burns - he's 45, cut to bits, getting outboxed, has no chance of winning and no need to prove anything to anyone, yet he's still fighting and won't give in. That's a warrior, and it's also why boxers sometimes need protecting from themselves.
Still remember him dropping khan and khan taking extra time to get up. Had £20 on him that day gutted.
