I had it 3 rounds a piece after 6 and Limond 1 point ahead due to the knockdown , when you consider that Khan probably should of been counted out you can't say it wasn't a close fight .

But getting away from Khan(as Jeff pointed out everyone seems to want to direct every thread to him) Earl , Mutu or Watson would all be good fights for Limond .

Earl would be the easiest but has the biggest name and Willie could get some attention by beating him .
Mutu is more dangerous than his record suggests and given time to prepare he is a lovely boxer with good skills and a tough opponent for anyone . I fancy Willie to win a decision over him though and the jab would be crucial .

Watson would be a good fight too and would be a good win for Willie on the domestic seen , Martin isn't a bad fighter at all and could make things tough for Willie at times but I'd see Limond winning a clear decision .

Limond v Thaxton would be a cr@cker and a fight I've love to see , aswell as John Murray against either man .

Indeed! If the world were a fair place, there would have been a rematch. But it ain't...and if Khan goes for Romanov next, and Romanov looks good on the night and tests Khan, not that many people will clamour for the Khan v. Limond rematch...sad but true.

Say "hello" to Willie from us all, please! We wish him all the best!:good

That's the man. He has left Birmingham now, moving to Dominica in June where he has opened up a gym. Trevor was always delighted whenever anybody brought up that KO win.

He trained some decent fighters after his retirement: Terry Adams, Gary Coombes, Lance Hall and Joe Mitchell. All of them were excellent amateurs who coudln't bring that form over to the pros. Tez is always dangerous, in and out of the ring, however.

He did. I was there for that fight, actually. Coombs, as he always did, came storming out with his hands held low and was tagged, dropped and stopped in two.

Gary was a two-time Midland ABA champion, thus him also being a two-time ABA quarter-finalist. He also was a Midland ABA runner-up. Coombs was measured in the vest but jsut went for a tear-up in the pros and got beaten quite a bit.

Yeah I was pretty shocked that Coombes was beaten by Christopher who was not the best fighter. I nearly stopped him in the first but the old lungs were having none of it at the time. Did Coombes fight Foster in the Ams? I recall his name but can't think where from.

I'm not sure, but i'll found out. I usually know who has fought who - in both the amateur and pros - in the Midlands, but am not 100 per cent about that. I'll be seeing Coombs on Friday night; he is always out on Broad Street.

I remember seeing Christopher, the fight after he'd walloped Coombs, giving Gary Buckland a decent fight on a Scott Dann undercard - could have been against Larry Sharpe. He roughed Buckland up but was stopped in the last.

Funny, actually, as I think Christopher’s chin went after that win against Coombsy in Brum.

I fought him in the fight before Coombes I think. He had been chinned by Ryan Barrett and Gary Young before me but took Stefy Bull the distance.

Not personally, but i did see him fight against a man i have sparred with before, Jon 'Boy' Whiteman, in 2004 or 2005. He was giving as good as he got against Whiteman and got the win, i think, on a DQ.

Didn't you beat him (neither BBN or Boxrec's records will load for me at the moment)?

Yeah, I was at my peak then  he had just banged out Mark Hudson.... I had flu but didn't want to pull out and because I had to stand my ground a bit I floored him five times for a 6th round KO. Felt like Felix Trinidad that night.:yep When the ref stopped it I was that chuffed I spat my gumshield out (coverd in blood and saliva) and booted it right into someones face at ringside. Daves a real nice lad I meet him occasionally at shows just thought he;s from down your way be interested to know his amateur record because he was pretty tidy.

It was not a close fight Amir Khan was technically superior to Willie Limond. The only chance Willie Limond had was to land a power shot, because in every area of the fight Amir Khan was superior.

He did but technically and physically he was no match for Amir Khan so in the end he was beaten up, beaten up bad.

Willie Limond is primitive..a primitive fighter and is as good as dead against Amir Khan.

Beaten up and sent home, with a ****ed up face.
