Willie Monroe jr ducked Vanes. Maciel was already a late replacement. If he ever wants a title shot again he needs to fight someone good. Not Rosado or Maciel. At least fight Vanes or maybe Quigley.
Vanes was offered the fight with 1 week notice, accepted and they went with Maciel. If Monroe considers himself a top 5 middleweight he needs to fight better opposition. He is with Haymon now and Im sure he had a full training camp, he could have easily taken on the better opponent.
What you say is true... if we are judging solely based on Vanes' personal twitter account. Monroe is highly, highly overrated. He's good. But far from great and not of the general quality of someone who lurks in any divisions' "top 10" or "list of contenders" for as long as he has.
Offered the fight to him when Aleem pulled out and then withdrew the offer to instead opt for a lesser name and lower stylistic threat in Maciel. Indian giving.
Monroe has no heart. This is crystal clear after he was terrorised into mental defeat by Young Stevie boy Saunders. It was already apparent before that when he jacked it in against Golovkin.
Mind you, we don't 100% know the facts in terms of chronology of how things went down behind the scenes. If the offer was made to Martirosyan and then snatched away before he could reply once they realized Maciel was available, that's shady. If they sent contracts to both at the same time and Maciel just happened to RSVP first, then fair enough.
Let's not pretend that losing to the best Middleweight and a shot at the belts is the same as losing to a 154'lber with no belts coming off a KO loss. I don't know if Monroe is ducking, nor do I even have a suspicion, but let's not pretend your arguments holds any ground.
It does hold some ground. Monroe has stepped up on numerous occasions. He took a shot at the Boxcino tournament and then he fought two of the best middleweights around. So it would be odd to say that Monroe is scared of someone. If anything, Monroe is being smart. The 3 times he did step up, there were tremendous rewards in victory. Vanes brings nothing to the table.
It holds ground when you make a good argument for it. Simply saying he's ducking because he fought Golovkin just tells me you'd be a terrible Lawyer.
