Willie Monroe Jr. is a 5'10 29 year old Middleweight with 19-1 6 KO's record. Born in Rochester, New York, USA and fighting out of Ithaca, New York, USA. Willie who won Gold at the Empire Games and the New York Golden Gloves is the son of Middleweight Willie Monroe Sr. and the great nephew of another Middleweight Willie Monroe known as The Worm he was one of the few who managed to beat Marvin Hagler. Willie who's promoted by Dibella Entertainment has been a staple on ESPN's Friday Night Fights over the last 2 years. He took part in the channels Boxcino Middleweight Tournament which he won. He did it with 2 impressive near shutout performances over the undefeated hard punching very talented Brandon Adams and scored another shutout over hot Ukrainian Prospect Vitaly Kopylenko. He followed up his impressive run at Boxcino by beating the rugged Donatas Bondrovas and recently completely dominated Bryan Vera with ease and even dropped him something Chavez couldn't do. For all of the complainers who want GGG to step up and fight a slick defensive fighter like a Lara or Andrade well you should be happy because Willie in my opinion is almost if not just as good as they are. He has one early close loss, against who else Darnell Boone, but he wasn't dropped like Ward or KO'd like Adonis. Will he be GGG Victim 33 or will he have a chance at the upset. Check Him Out. :toney:toney:toney:toney

This is a very good fight for Golovkin. The kid is dangerous. Sadly, he'll become a bum in the FL0M0's eyes when Golovkin massacres him. Still, the kid gives anyone at 160-154 lbs. problems.

he can survive some rounds with his movement, but I see GGG taking him out around the 6th round

Most of the people whining and moaning probably don't know what the **** they're talking about and most likely had just heard about Monroe today:-(, I actually wanted him to fight Monroe to see how well he handles his style.

Monroe jr is a good fighter, but he is a work in progress.
I think Monroe Jr has a bright future, I just don't think he is quite ready for a guy like GGG.

The way he holds his right hand out in front of him is going to get him knocked out by GGG's left hook.

Quit fooling this guy won't make it past round 4. Lara with two broken hands and legs is better than this guy. GGG would be better off fighting a decent WW compared to guys like this. I don't blame GGG for taking the fight but please enough with the threads trying to hype his opponents that are subpar.

I like this match up, as long as the Cottos, Quillins, Lees, Saunders, and Co. are ducking GGG, he has to fight on and stay busy, sooner or later the belts and the fights will come to GGG :deal

Cotto and Quillin yes but Lee and Saunders no! Not everyone is ducking GGG that would be like me saying GGG is ducking Lara because he is fighting Monroe. Lee is already scheduled to fight Quillin and wasn't even on GGGs radar until recently. BJS wants a Lee fight above all else first it'll make good money. I expect Saunders would want a title first anyway to make the most available money while fighting GGG there's a difference between smart and scared.

Garbage fight. Monroe is decent but doesn't belong in the same ring as ggg.

I'd rather see GGG in with a top 10 middleweight, which Monroe is not

But i also don't think Monroe will fold in 3 RDS like Geale either

I think Monroe's team are purely ignorant.

Yeah, losing to GGG while earning 500K and getting global exposure is a dream come true for many fighters, but Monroe had HUGE upside, and he coulda easily have gotten a higher purse split by staying busy vs guys like Rosado, Stevens, etc, while awaiting a fight with Jacobs or Eubank Jr, both $$$$ fights, and both easily winnable for the young American.

Holding a portion of the WBA title would give him a 30% split of a GGG fight, or a 50/50 split vs Lee or Quillin, Ndam or Lemiuex.

    Bad move for Monroe.

Yes, if I were managing Monroe, I'd do exactly as you said. Rosado, Stevens, Lee, Korobov would be better for his 2015 campaign.
