Bad style matchup for Vic in this one, its still a winnable fight for him though but even if he does win he won`t look good doing so. Galindez was a counter-puncher by nature and did not like to lead, but against Willie he wouldn`t have a choice as he will be on his toes moving around all night flicking out that jab. Either Galindez wins an ugly fight with his aggression, mauling tactics in close and harder punching giving him an edge in the scoring, or Willie outslicks him and has him missing more than he is landing and wins a close one over fifteen.

Pastrano. One of the most underrated light heavyweights imo. Was as tough as they come and one of the slickest light heavys to ever lace on a pair of gloves. BTW, there's an excellent documentary called "fighters of new orleans" that documents Willie and Ralph Dupas among others. Brilliant film.

IF Galindez fights with the same vigour he showed in the first Kates fight i can't see Pastrano having enough offense to hold him off.

pastrano would probably beat the later-reign Galindez closely.

Ralph Dupas was a very, very good fighter but sadly all but forgotten today. Very clever boxer he was, his performance against Gil Turner was a masterpiece although to be fair Gil was running on fumes by then, nevertheless he completely outclassed Turner over ten rounds. Ifsdan, would you know were I can get a copy of that doc by any chance?

I'll have to see. I don't own it; but know a person that does. My friend Dax who's about 71 now and somewhat of a boxing historian had the video and was best friends with Tony Dupas; Ralph's brother. He had alot of fight footage of Ralph too; one where he was so fast he actually was standing behind a fighter for a brief moment as his opponent was looking to see where the hell Dupas was. It was a pabts blue ribbon fight i'm pretty sure.

The most impressive thing about Ralph was that alot of people agree he beat Sugar Ray Robinson. Robinson was awarded the split decision but almost everyone at ringside and all the media had Ralph winning. Also keep in mind Robinson outweighed him by over 12 pounds. Just shows you how good Ralph was at times.

When Ralph Dupas passed away they showed an extremely brief clip (seconds) of the bout between Dupas and Robinson...Just another great fight ESPN is sitting on...I guess.

Indeed, if espn has that in their vault and is just sitting on it that is a travesty. There isn`t much out there of Dupas although I am fortunate to have quite a bit of footage of him, but I`d love to see his go with Robinson as I`ve also heard about the decision being a bad one that should have rightfully gone to Dupas. Doesn`t surprise me either that he won, Dupas was a tricky fellow and very quick on his feet too, I can see how Robbie would have struggled with him. I tell you Ifsdan Ralph would have a field day with most of today`s welterweights if he were fighting now.

Oh I agree. He was fighting grown men and outclassing them at the age of 15. The new orleans fighters were some of the toughest of the time period. There weren't alot of them but all of them could fight damn well.

Indeed, New Orleans did produce some very good fighters over the years. The Docusen brothers Bernard and Maxie also came from NO and were very good fighters too, Bernard actually gave Robinson one heck of a fight too for the title and from the footage I have of that fight he was an excellent boxer, unfortunately I haven`t found any footage of his younger brother Maxie, not yet anyway.
