Please help. I recently recieved, or was told I did, film of two exhibtions Willie pep had with Fritzie Zivic and Red Cochrane. Although when watching the film i realised they were the same film but one of them had been inverted as if looking through a mirror, and then passed of as a different fight. I am quite a big fan of Pep, and it did look like Pep in the footage, and it was definitly footage I had not seen before. It was about 10 minutes long and went 10 rounds, which was unusual for an exhibition. If anybody could help me out by, if they know pep had an exhibition with either of these guys, or if they could help me identify Pep's opponent in the film, I could send you a copy of it.
The film looks similar to that but is slightly longer than that and shows the fighters going back to their corners. But yeh i think it might be that cheers TGA
I think that film has been made shorter to fit youtube which limits the video to 11 minutes. Sweetfights also used to have the "Cochrane" fight up, until it was proven that it was the same fight as this. Actually it's still there: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEMr9tA2pvk[/ame]
Yeh that is the footage. Someone has been ****ing around I see. Angott does look similar to Pep in that footage though, does he not?
There are some similarities, for example to the McAllister film where Pep is unusually aggressive, but you wouldn't expect Pep to force the fight against a welterweight like Fritzie Zivic.
Indeed. I was thinking pep was abit gung-ho but the change of angles and punch selection looked similar to Pep, as well as the build and speed.
Here's some film of Angott fighting Ray Robinson: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcyqmnXNY-w[/ame] Angott, in my opinion, would be a tough fight for anybody at lightweight with his spoiling style. Few were able to look great against him.
Thanks TGA, just clicked through it. A dirtier, slightly more aggresvie, less skilled Pep. Glad I got that sorted out now though, thanks for your help and the footage of Angott.
Sammy Angott was a great one but is in against a big great Welter in SRR. Still Sammy was one of the greats. You can tell a huge style difference between Angott and Pep, who was way ahead of his time
A bit odd, this confusion. You couldn't find two fighters any further apart stylistically if you tried.
