    Thanks for posting.

Undoubtedly one of the greatest ever. sconsidering how articulate he still was at that age, I'd say he's also a pretty good advertisement for being a defensive fighter!

Great interview. One of the best fighters ever. Pep was a very sharp guy up until about a decade before his death he was suffering from pugilistic demensia. Nobody moved around the ring like Willie Pep. One of the true architects of boxing.

well, basically true. But there are other great defensive fighters who are in horrible shape now. Pernell Whitaker doesnt sound good and Wilfred Benitez is in real bad shape since many years. Jimmy Young was also a great defensive fighter and was seriously ill when he got older

This is true. If there's one fighter I'd have expected to be slurring words and generally looking worse for wear, it's George Chuvalo. After watching the Facing Ali documentary, I couldn't believe a guy who took as many punches as him could still be so articulate and well-spoken.

that s right! the other guy also mentioned Chuvalo...
Basilio looked like a punching bag in most of his fights, so did laMotta and Chuvalo and these guys speak perfect today. Nobody would think they were boxers

Great interview. I think the video is dated wrong though. No way that's from 1976. More likely early 90s. The International Boxing Hall of Fame wasn't even founded until 1989.

Whitaker's problems stem more from his massive drug abuse, rather then any shots he took in the ring. He hardly got hit most of his career.

Thanks for sharing, OP. It's sad how Italian-Americans always go on about Marciano, but have never heard of Willie Pep.

but they are mentioning Arguello in the interview. and arguello fought at featherweight in the 70s

yeah, with Whitaker a lot could have to do with his drug use
