This content is protected 1, 4, and 7. Pep remained way outside, jumping in to deliver single left jabs. Savoie stalked, but to no avail. Pep scattered hard combos here and there, and landed several hard left hooks right before the bell rang at the end of the 7th. All rounds won by Pep. 10. Pep tied Savoie up a lot; Savoie made vicious rushes at Pep. Pep. Verdict: One cannot always make much of these abundant 10 minute clips from the 50s. In this case, there was no drama, no action, and not a great display of skill by Pep, therefore I see no reason to bother with it.
I'm not aware of any 1940s footage of Pep, when he was in his prime. I think the earliest film of him is his 1950 fight with Ray Famechon. From the available footage of that one, Pep looks in complete control and you can get more of a picture of how he would have looked in his prime years.
I agree with lack of drama and action, but Pep didn't show skill? He looked very elusive to me. Pep did seem to tire in the later rounds. Thanks for posting.
