Pep fought many fights in the 128 lb range...he was a big featherweight and probably too big for Wilfredo Gomez which sounds strange.

    Let's match him against Arquello.

Would he just dance around Alexis jabbing all night and take an easy 15 rd. decision?

    Who wins?

I've always thought a Pep-Arguello fight was very tough to pick.

One one hand, Arguello has shown problems with slick boxers and movement.

On the other, Pep has shown problems with tall/rangy fighters who force him to lead and be more aggressive.

Arguello was a helluva fighter at 130 though, maybe the best ever (or at least, the best that ever won a title there). Could be too tall an order (pun intended) for Pep.

Whilst Pep's style seems a nightmare for Pep, post-injury Pep was battered by a tall (pretty much SFW) Saddler and I see Arguello giving him similar problems and stopping him late. However, Pep had all the tools to give Alexis a very frustrating and joyless night.

BIG DEE HERE= Willie in his prime before the plane crash in the late 40s would give Alexis
a boxing lesson. He would have given the same lesson to Saddler if they had fought when Pep was at his best before the plane crash which took much of his skills and speed.
No matter what they say he was not the same fighter as before the crash. Arquello was
not able to handle a fighter of Pep`s speed and skill.

This might be the one fight Alexis loses at 130, but Willie would need all the tricks to beat Alexis.Willie by Majority decision.

I think Pep would beat him. I don't think that Arguello and Saddler are analagous because Arguello was a gentleman in the ring and Saddler wasn't. He did a lot of damage rough-housing Pep in close, most importantly getting Pep angry and out of his game plan.

    At 126 Pep beats Arguello.

    At 130 Arguello beats Pep.

This fight is something like Marcel vs Arguello.

Marcel beat Arguello at 126, but at 130 Arguello would have beaten Marcel.

Pep wasn`t a big FW, he was as natural at this weight as any fighter ever was in any weight, no natural FW beats Pep... SFW vs Arguello might be a different story tho because Alexis was big even for a SFW.... but I don`t think so tbh, I think Pep is just too fast & versatile a boxer for Arguello to deal with & I see him taking a clear UD.

Ps. if Arguello does win, it will not be by decision, he has virtually no chance of winning more rounds than a prime Pep, it will be by KO/TKO... but I still have difficulty seeing AA tag Pep enough to get the KO, I know Saddler did it while behind on points but he fought very dirty, Alexis doesn`t, he is one of the cleanest fighters ever, vice versa for Saddler.... I see a replay of the Pep-Saddler fights but without the stopages.

    Pep W15 Arguello

Pep has the style to outbox and outmove Arguello but could he keep him off? Could he handle the bigger better conditioned mans onslaught? I think Pep's weakness is his conditioning and strength at the weight

That's why we don't know until they fight
