This content is protected 1. Pep relied on his two greatest weapons: movement and the jab. He did not get too adventurous. Chavez accomplished nothing noteworthy. Pep. 2. Pep. 3. Less long-range fighting. Mostly Pep throwing a hook to Chavez' body and then clinching. Pep. 4. Pep. 5. Less clinching by Pep, thank God, and more commitment put into his punches, as well as greater accuracy. Pep. 6. In the closing portion of this round, Pep did land a DAMN good right overhand that had Chavez clinching and looking like a bobble-head. Pep. 7. Chavez beginning to tire out. Pep. 8. Chavez far more active than previously, and Pep far more ineffective than previously. Chavez. 9. Pep hit Chavez with right hands constantly. And Chavez showed no kind of defense to prevent these right hands from finding their way into his face all the time. I must admit, Pep looked pretty sharp here. Pep. 10. Pep did turn on the action in the final minute, landing several solid rights. Final score: 9-1. No contest really. Pep had an easy time of it. Btw, does anyone think that Pep looks somewhat like Carmen Basilio, facially? Verdict: My colorless commentary should tell you something.
One of my all time favourite fights. Just pep at his absolute best, Im perrty sure this fight single handedly got me into boxing.
I'm sorry for being so harsh then. I don't like to force my opinion on people, but I just personally am not amused by it. If you like it, that's great.
O no I get it, its just some poor ****er getting his nut jabed of for 10. im just there for the foot work.
I remember watching this while trying to find everything on Pep. He was clearly a ways past his peak, but he still had enough savvy to make fools of solid fighters. I recall Pep strafing Chavez so much at one point that he asked the ref to stop it because he did have Chavez hurt.
