willie pep vs ike williams.....

Neither would I ,but that is because Ike is in my top 3 at his weight , a good boxer and one of the best punchers at it whereas Pep ,was a one in a million boxer but lacked lethal power.
I don't think Pep can hold Ike off for 15rds, he might make him look stupid for a while but eventually he gets stopped.
Ike walks though the Wisp, and turns him into toast.

Pep's chances would improve dramatically over the shorter distance, but I still like Ike to get to him.I would give Ike a good chance against Pep, even if they were both feathers.

 

I'd bet my house on a Williams victory,

Ike's in my top (15) Pd 4 Pd and with the weight advantage I just can't see him losing

 

I think it is safe to say that Pep's style and ability gives Williams absolute fits...But you have to go with Williams to eventually catch up to him. But will say that Pep would be way ahead on the scorecards til it happened...Pep would try to make him reset and reach all night by walking on that tightrope just outside of William's lead left foot, dart in quick with quick jab/right, pivot, then back outside that foot and out of the line of fire...

 

Pep is in no way out-matched.

In the early goings Pep would completely 'out box' Williams keeping him off balance and not set to punch. Eventually though I could see Williams just looking to get inside and bang away, and this is probably the best strategy and he would take Pep out in the mid-rounds IMO, after a hard struggle.

 

It's just reading all the articles of Williams struggling with movers, as well as some film backing this up (Williams wasn't the fastest of foot). In a way he's comparable to Joe Louis, who had problems with smaller but quick and elusive opponents, but eventually got them out of there in 15 round bouts.

I don't logically see how Pep will win this bout. He's simply too small. While he's super slick and will be tough to catch, Willie is ultimately marking time. Fighting at a higher weight, it's only a matter of time before he slips just a little, and Ike Williams is just too damn deadly not to capitalize.
