I read sometime ago that there was chatter about decent World Title Fights been held at The Centre Court at Wimbledon... I think it would be an amazin venue with a awesome atmosphere... I think that it holds 30,000...:think What are your thoughts...?
I think someone made a thread about great sporting venues to have a fight at and this cropped up. I love to see a fight there. Compact arena and also has great facilities for the fighters plus as i said i think in that thread i love to see the toff's faces when guys are going at it on there sacred centre court.
It would be a great boxing venue. Would never happen tho... Football stadiums are just too big and not compact enough.
Yeah they should and change it a bit to make it more like tennis, when the guy goes down someone should shout OUT!
Could be a great venue. I would like to see another world title fight at wembley, like in 95 when bruno beat macall the atmosphere sounded amazing.
Yep I brought it up in another thread - Losfer laughed at me, everyone else agreed with me, Losfer ate some humble pie
IT would be great but the amount of money they spend on treating and maintaining the grass I couldn't see them letting it happen. Centre Court is supposed to the most expensive patch of grass on the planet.
The All England could make a packet out of it... It was another thread where I saw it... I think it said Arum loved the idea... I think Haye could bang out Wembley Stadium against Vitali no problem...:yep
With ease, if he doesn't **** about with Ruiz and bangs him out early then absolutely no doubt. Haye is a big draw now.
It would prove to be an intimate venue and one capable of generating a great atmosphere. I forget the name of the venue but there's that tennis court in L.A. where a few big fights have been held including, if my memory serves me correct, a couple of the Marquez vs Vazquez trilogy. The big difference is, however, that the US venue will look at the money having a big show can generate and bite the hand off. Wimbledon, by comparrison, is still in the hand of very snobby owners and they are more likely to cut their nose of to spite their face.
And the undercard fights could be held on the other courts i.e. matt hatton on court 18 so no one has to watch him :yep
