no way. Hall Of Famers don't lose to every big time fighter they step up to. Hell, even with roids Vargas lost.

The Winky fight was the only one he won, and even then it was debatable if he really won.

    No way in hell...

If we start letting Vargas and Gatti's into the Hall, then you've just lowered the bar to allow any fun-to-watch-fighter-who-lost-to-every-good-fighter-in-their-weight-class.

Why not put Augustus in there? Or some fighter with a 40 loss record simnply because he was always in exciting fights?

Gotta draw the line at great fighters who beat some other top flyers at the time.

Possibly hes a guy with a nice win resume over Ike Quartey,Ray Joval,Javier Castejllo,Yory Boy Campas,Winky Wright,Raul Marquez. 2 time World Champion his fights with legends Trinidad and DLH although he lost was competitive and will go down in legend as the best fights in 154 pound history.

Oddly enough, the way the math works, what really matters is how we view Ike Quartey's career. It's basically a given that Winky will get inducted. That gives Vargas one win over a Hall of Famer. If Quartey is considered HOF material, then Vargas will (I don't care one way or the other with the "should he" part) get inducted. Beating 2 Hall of Fame fighters (that weren't washed up, as well) before your 20th fight is going to get you in this day and age. The boxing Hall of Fame itself looks at fighters in a more optimistic light, as opposed to how this board typically works. I'm not complaining about that- it just is what it is.

Vargas also has wins over a few fighters I'd classify as "very good" and was lucky not to get "Reid'd" out of boxing considering how he was rushed. Call me crazy, but I think Vargas will get in by the time it's all said and done.

vargas is miles miles MILES ahead of gatti... and yet people are lobbying to put HIM in there?

Vargas is the youngest JR middle champ in history

    Stopped Campas
    Stopped Marquez
    Dominated Ike quartey
    Beat Winky Wright

and after he was already a done fighter

    beat castillejo
    beat joval

2 HOF Fights against Greats Tito and Hoya in which he gave as good as he got, came up short in the end.

im not saying that he SHOULD get in... but if Gatti gets in... theres no reason Feroz shouldnt.

and why the HELL do people bring up gatti in the same sentance as Vargas as if they are on the same level at ALL?

guys... maybe you forgot... but back in the late 90's, vargas was a p4p fighter.

i think in 1999 the Ring magazine had him at number 9 in the world p4p.

im not sure if he should or shouldnt...

but the one thing i do know is that if he doesnt get in... i know where the bar is set, and maybe thats the thing... i dont see where the bar is maybe.

Lets look at it this way

If vargas DOESNT get into the HOF...

what does that say about tito and Hoya... when arguably one of their top wins (and Ring counts vargas as hoyas #1 win. And how many fighters are you really going to rank above vargas as Trinidads greatest victory?

    to add to that

if he doesnt get in... NO WAY IN HELL does ike quartey get in.

He have had some great wins over the years...but Hall of Fame...NO WAY!

If Mayorga wins do you think he could possibly be hof material..??

For a lunatic with limited skills he has had one hell of a career.
