i became a fan after fighting gorrez, kirilov and mijarez straight on their own turfs. what a bad-ass. now if vic can avenge his only loss against donaire (who i rated highly at the moment), i will be a victard for real.

Vic is a REAL warrior, I agree... Actually he's too much of a warrior... For example, he claimed he was not hurt at all by Donaire's KO punch even if he did the chicken dance... Then he asked Donaire for a rematch right after being KO'ed (only his promoter Gary Shaw chickened out)...

Darchinyan is a real warrior... I enjoyed his fights...

I'm not really a big fan of Darchinyan's style - it's a little too awkward for me. I love watching the lower weight classes and usually a guy his size with great power would be a favourite of mine but he just doesn't do it for me.

Having said that, I can't imagine why any boxing fan wouldn't respect him. The sport would be in a much better state if every fighter shared his willingness to fight the best.

Usually if a bantam called out someone like Pacquiao, you would just assume it was a publicity stunt - but there's no doubt in my mind this crazy little ******* would fight him given half a chance (and it has to be more realistic than when he called out Taylor when he was still Middleweight champ!).

Might not like his attitude most of the time but he will provide you with entertaining fights guaranteed win lose or draw and that is a very valuable trait in a fighter.

King Kong Agbeko is a fan-friendly fight but no way no how is it the toughest fight possible. Did you see his last fight? the man is a slugger. Its gonna be fun to watch but I expect Vic to win it on speed

Of course I agree that someone like Hasegawa would be more favored vs. Vic than Agbeko.

But think like this: instead of facing a tune-up at BW or a C level, undeserved title challenger (Rafael Concepcion type), he's facing a reigning world champion, and unlike Hasegawa or Moreno, Agbeko packs a knockout punch, which is the most dangerous for a fighter moving up. Fighting Agbeko also promises WAR, again with the danger of fighting a stronger guy, so with Montiel unavailable (who moved up against a C-level Argentinean) I think King Kong is the the toughest fight out there for a BW debut.

    And Vic asked for it.

Vic is in top condition and his confidence is on top too.

“Every boxer should go for the KO. I seek excitement only. I want to be exciting. I want to be one of the best in the history of boxing. That means I go for the knockout. I’m going to take it easy early and slow him down. I’m going to make him look stupid and knock him out.

I don’t have respect for my opponents in the ring. I might have respect for them outside, but inside it’s a war.

After this fight we’ll see what we do. I’d love to fight Nonito (Donaire) again if he’s ready for me. He hasn’t done much since we fought. If SHOWTIME isn’t interested in that I’ll move up to 122 pounds and keep moving up."

Vic was definitely too brave for his own good in his BW Championship debut - but so what, that's why we like him. :yep No tune-up. No cherry-picking. No 'adjustlng' fight. After beating 3 champs in a row, the 4th was too much, but this just proves once again how strong his opponent selection is, and how tough it is to win a 3rd division title.

Most fighters/promoters don't take fights they can lose. Vic does, and it took another 2 divisions 4 champs to stop/hold-up Darchinyan's amazing title run. King Kong fought a great fight, showed a lot of movement, dictated his pace, controlled the range and found the straight right hand and never stopped landing it, ultimately busting up Vic's face and winning an eventful, competitive 12 rounder. Him and stable-mate Joshua Clottey both showed toughness, skills and power lately, not hard to see why most fighters avoid warriors from Ghana.

People often blame promoters and fighters for not taking risks and asking for a fighter to do the unusual. But sometimes you guys fail to realize you just got what you wished for, yet 'exposed', 'overrated' and other useless terms come up every Sunday morning when a Cotto, Mijares or Darchinyan loses. Just don't forget:

    - Vic Darchinyan is the only professional boxer in recent memory to fight 4 World Champions in a row in 2 weight divisions, that after a supposedly career-ending KO loss
    - Vic fought Gorres, Mijares and Arce in their backyard and Agbeko on a Don King event (promoter of King Kong)
    - Vic always goes for the knockout, even if it ultimately costs him the fight, and that happened yesterday. He's no Floyd Mayweather ... but thanks God for that
    - He might talk a lot of trash, but sorry, he's not to SOB you want him to be, he gives credit where it's due
    - Vic was and very possible that he will be a deserving Top10 P4P-er once again, because he had and will have the resume to outshine supposedly more skilled, but protected 'superstars', who's risk/reward thinking is killing boxing
    - Vic is STILL THE REIGNING UNDISPUTED SUPER FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, in fact the only undisputed champion in boxing today, the only thing this BW trip cost him was a loss in the record and we know how well he did after the last one
    - Vic is still a REAL WARRIOR :happy :happy :happy

I can see the build-up Herm!

"I'm fighting Vic Darchinyan dear Brian Kenny, because he's the only undisputed champion in the world, not some paper or magazine titleholder."

"But he's a freaking flyweight, Floyd"

"You always try to find a way to disrespect me Brian, you never give me proper credit."

"Oh yeah, and I'll never let a small man beat me."

Could Undisputed SFW Champion fight the 5th world champ in a row in WBO titleholder Jose Lopez?

A certain boxing site on the scene heard the rumor on the street. A great comeback fight it would be. Darchinyan doesn't need a tune-up, and Lopez, despite at a veteran age, has skills and power to give Vic trouble. After all, in the last fight he lost he managed to knock down 3-division champion Fernando Montiel.

    Come on Vic! :happy

It's a good fight if it happens. Bigbone, do you know if Vic still holds the WBC, WBA and IBF belts or has he been stripped of any of them?

Edit - Just seen the other thread
