Isn't that one of boxing's old adages? Garcia's performance tonite was not great but I thought he did do enough to win. I was actually pleasantly surprise to see Herrera make it a very competitive fight, as I didn't know much about him. It became very evident to me by the 3rd round that Herrera's style was going to pose problems for Garcia, pesky jab, solid defense, slightly akward and very crafty with good ring IQ. I said to myself this is going to be one of those fights that Garcia is going to have to "win today, impress next time", thoughts.
@Cafe I thought he did enough, I just believe there's a climate in boxing that suggest a champion not only has to win, but win impressively. Garcia had a game opponent in front of him tonite and it became obvious after a few rounds that Garcia was not going to look impressive, due to Herrera's style. I also believe when the underdog performs better than expected, his bandwagon grows immediately and he instantly becomes the favorite in the eyes of many fans. A case could be made for either fighter winning the fight, I just think Garcia edged him out.
i have yet to see the fight as i actually competed today myself so my mind and body were elsewhere lol but i did catch the punchstats that had garcia almost landing double the ammount of power shots ? now provided this info is correct i stopped reading all these "garcia lost, robbery etc etc" posts and thought back and realized because of garcias father alot of people dont like him and as we all know your personal opinion of a fighter clearly effects your judgement so im going to go watch this fight and make up my own mind but i wont be going in expecting a blatent robbery like most are saying it was
I struggle to find 4 clear rounds for Garcia while there's 8 clear rounds for Herrera. 9-3 or 8-4 to Herrera. Simply put it was a bad decision. Garcia got Lucky last night no doubt.
@Barrera I had it 7-5 in favor of Garcia. Very hard fight to score because a lot of the rounds were close. Very good fight though.
