Hand to hand combat has a wealth of application for us to ****yse, improve and then apply again. The same can't be said of weapons defence. I think the principles/concepts are applicable but the techniques require A LOT of refinement. For example Aikidos shifting of energy is excellent but do I think those elaborate techniques are the most efficient the technique can be? No.

The significance of crossing the wrists say the closer the wrists are together the greater the difficultly to get straight punches past the guard this is a fundlementle of modern boxing.

Dago the best defense against a straight right hand is to cross both wrists. There's nothing new in boxing.

maybe the best stopping defense is your cross wrist block, but far from the best defense. IMO stepping back or to the side is the best defense (where balance and ready position is not altered or compromised), and slipping is probably the best to not take any force and be in position to counter.

Didn't Chris Eubank incorporate Wing Chun into his training for many years? Seems to ring a bell with me....

You can't backhand with the jab.. or anything that's close to trapping.. you can have an awkward Bute up jab that you can flick.. but any side movement and the ref is gonna say something..

Once your hands leave the centerline it's the same as dropping your hands.
Notice how Tyson even training never let his hands move outside the centerline.

Why not block with the hands?

Simply block those body shots with your hands.

TC imagine fencing from a square stance shouldn't one be pricked to death by the rapier? Boxing is a side ways sport.
