Winky Wright I feel can sort of pressure/outbox Abraham. Both have a tight defense, but Wright throws more punches obviously, and can fight a guy on the ropes. Wright also has a great chin, Abraham isnt going to knock him out.

While I think you´re right I don´t know how much Winky has left. He was inactive for quite a while and I think that could have cost him a bit, perhaps enough to lose to AA.

Thats what it all comes down to, How much does Winky have left. Winky in his prime was a fast Mofo, he had great agility and fast hands. As of late however, he has become average at best. Even in the Tito fight, Winky was much slower than before. In the Soliman, Taylor and Hopkins fight he took a lot of power punches, if those guys were able to land, I don't see any reason why Abraham wouldn't either. Abraham would be the favorite to win this fight, his savy and most importantly fresh.

Well, the thing is Soliman landed because he threw 1,200 punches in the fight but he still had only a connect percentage in the low teens. That´s not much. Taylor landed also only because he threw many and Hopkins, well, Abraham is no Hopkins when it comes to figure out an opponent - also he is quite good in that too. I don´t thing Winky slipped before his bout with Hopkins but the lay-off may have cost him.

This is just wishful thinking on Winky's part. No one else is talking seriously about this fight. The only way it will happen is if Calzaghe manages to locate his testicles, and agrees to fight Pavlik early next year. That seems highly unlikely at this point.

I heard that even if JC would decide to continue fighting after RJJ and get it on with Pavlik, it wouldn't happen before April 2009.

Though, would Pavlik (uhh, I mean Arum) take a stay-busy in between?

Btw, if RJJ manages to beat JC, we will definately see Pavlik vs. RJJ and AA will never (ever) fight Pavlik for the crown at 160. That would leave us with AA facing Winky early next year...

Although Wright faced Hopkins for the light heavyweight championship at a contract weight of 170, he told Dan Rafael he's coming back to 160 and would even go to 154 for the right fight. He also mentioned that he has gotten as heavy as 198 pounds during his layoff.

Based on what? The guy is incredibly inactive. How do you expect him to outpoint Winky, who pumps that jab constantly and comes forward to try to impress the judges?

This is a toss up. You would expect Wright to outwork and outpoint him for extended periods, and to be leading on the cards by a good margin.

However, he's been very very slow recently, inactive and his footwork is not up to scratch. He takes more shots now than he ever did, and even with his chin he can not take too many of Abraham's, nobody can.

I think Winky would clearly outclass Abraham. Assuming that he hasn't lost too much since his last fight. I think there is a difference in class. It's understandable for people to underrate Winky as he hasn't fought since July 2007 but come on, the guy can box. And his last fight was not a good indication of who he really is because he fought at 170 AND he fought a guy who always makes you look bad in Hopkins. This fight will be at 160. But i guess it still comes down to how much Winky has left.

It might have been at 170, but the writing is on the wall for me. Ignoring anything Hopkins did for a second, he was slow and horrible in himself.

I don't think he's magically going to look sharp at 160 after this sort of inactivity. He's only fought 3 times in over 2 years, and the guys what...36?

He wasn't even that impressive a couple of years ago. Abraham has at least a 50/50 shot, in what would be a horrible stylistic matchup prime for prime.

I don't think you can just throw out the fact that he fought 10 pounds above his ideal weight AND he fought the one and only Hopkins. You combine those two factors and you can REALLY look bad. Hopkins took away Winky's best weapon which was the jab with constant movement. He was really reaching on a lot of his jabs and that made him look somewhat amatuerish. But Abraham ain't no Hopkins. He's not going to offset Winky's jab with movement or time him with perfect right hands or dictate the pace with his ring generalship.

Winky was on top of the world before fighting Hopkins. But it still comes down to how much he has left.

Was he? I thought he was okay against Taylor, but out of Taylor's many gifts that was probably one he was closest to getting.

He beat a really past it Quartey and wasn't all that against Soliman. I'm still yet to be convinced about him as a 160lb fighter, especially now at 36. I think on top of the world might have been a slight overstatement.

Pavlik would beat him senseless I fear, and even Abraham at a stylistic nightmare has a real chance now. I think he's easier to hit than he once was, and certainly slower. Dangerous against the erratic and hard counterpunching of Abraham.
