I just think that JT can beat this guy on experience alone. JT has been through some extremely tough fights these past 3 years and knows how to win. Just because he hasn't knocked anybody lately doesn't mean anything. He had Winky in some trouble in their fight. Yeah, he hasn't been aggressive, so what. He has won, and that's all that matters. JT is big, has a great jab, and can hit hard. He is a great offensive fighter when he utilizes everything that is in his arsenal. The fact that he will be able to hit Pavlik easier than defensive minded fighters like Spink, Wright, Hopkins and Ouma will be make all the difference in the world. Before he fought these tough guys, everybody was claiming he was a beast. It all "What have you done for me lately" BS. Pavlik looks good, no doubt, but I wonder if people are showing their support for him moreso because of the color of his skin rather than just his boxing prowess alone. I have to say this because it was the same story on this website when Gatti fought Mayweather.
Funny, I just wrote this exact thing in another thread and then read it here. Despite the fact that the fight is split pretty much 50/50 on this board, if Pavlik does KO Taylor or Taylor UDs Pavlik, except to see plenty of "i told you sos" after the fight. It's not like one of the guys is a huge underdog and him winning would be an amazingly bold prediction. But, you'll get guys on here acting like it was.
I agree that Kelly is going to be in for a helluva fight and by far his toughest to date, but I feel he can handle the pressure and come out with a victory.
Thats called wishing on a star...PAVLIK WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE TAYLOR'S JAB...that alone will begin to slow Pavlik down by the 4rth round. Pavlik is much slower than Taylor but nobody even wants the touch that fact...they just want to sweep it under the rug...
I don't know how many fights people have watched of Pavlik's, but he is a very good body puncher. JT is going to get KTFO.
the reasons imo 1 - pavlik will be much easier to hit then winky, so ya, he may back jermain up but he will sustain a lot more damage then winky did imo 2 - winky is imo a bit faster then pavlik.... 3 - his punches were coming southpaw style... much more akward to be succesful against then pavliks.... i am playing devils advocate of course.... i agree with you.... i look at the ouma fight, a guy coming forward throwing bunches of punches add size to him and massive power.... and you got pavlik.
I don't think that Ouma handled Taylors jab...I think that was one of the reasons he lost the fight. Also Taylor tried too hard and swung too wild looking for the early knock out. I think Pavlik will be easier to hit than Ouma and I think Pavliks defense is not as good...I think Taylor will land more flush shots on Pavlik...and shot just about everybody because they can't actually recognise the mechanics of the fight...they only see a big, strong slow fighter that has knocked out inferior opposition...:good
For someone not able to handle the other's jab, that didn't stop Ouma from backing Taylor into the corner. Taylor's size, reach, and athleticism won that fight. Not his skill. If Pavlik backs Taylor into a corner half as much as Ouma did, Taylor is going to sleep.
As Taylors is faster...he will most likely beat Pavlik to the punch and those shots Pavlik take will subtract some off his power out of the equation rather quickly...You will see...
Isn't Ouma a southpaw? Trivia question for you...is a jab more of a factor against a southpaw or less of a factor? If you can figure that out you can answer your own question...Since you are comparing Ouma vs Taylor and Pavlik vs Taylor you are not comparing apples to apples...Those types of comparisons will yeild the flawed logic found in your posts...:deal
A jab is less of a factor, however a straight right or over-hand right is most effective against a southpaw. So your saying Taylor couldn't keep Ouma off of him with his right or his power hand?
