I'm not too proud to admit when I was wrong. Guess it's easy after you pick DLH over Pacquiao! I was totally wrong on this one. I was also wrong about Calzaghe, but I'll go to my grave believing Hopkins won that one. I gotta go start a hypothetical thread in a fight I believe Williams would lose to make myself feel better about all this! :smoke
Winky Wright impressed me, though - much better performance and sustained workrate than I expected. But when somebody's outjabbing WW, that's something special! He managed to do well in clinches even with Joe "Biased but Flaccid" Cortez in there - it took until the 10th before Paul Williams was able to exploit the clinches (stick the hand facing Cortez under Winky's elbow and hitting with the other hand, so he'd get the points and Winky'd get the blame; brilliant!). With the (hopefully) better attitude and showing that he can sustain a higher workrate than even his prime, I sure won't mind seeing him again. Keeping those two attributes up high might not hold, of course.
I was just as wrong with DLH and you wern't that far off with Hopkins. I had that one close as did alot of people but it was clear Calzaghe won, put down the pipe you delusional ****
Hey! I got Mosley-Margo right! If you go back on a fight-by-fight basis, I think I've actually done better than Atlas, but perhaps not! :smoke
I feel ya, Rumsfeld. I was hoping Winky would win but picked Williams as I really felt Wright did not have the legs for it anymore. Great job by Paul Williams.
I was one ofhose who thought Winky would win this one easily. Not only had he dealt with better fighters before, but he was the style to spoil all styles. He may be old but his style is that kind that does not fade with age. Boy was I wrong.
I'm actually still surprised. I really thought Winky would outclass him. Also, I think Winky is still probably better than some realize. For me, it's just that Paul was a lot better than I gave him credit for.
I was one of Winky's biggest backers and gave him 1, 4 and the 5th even. It was closer than the judges saw, but only slightly. PWill is the truth. I'm surprised and pleased that he brought the fight up in weight, I honestly thought Winky was a bridge too far, but, again, PWill is the truth.
