Agreed. He ruined what was already a good career by not making his career a great one. I saw the fight, and we all know I am a huge Wright stan, but I thought he looked OKAY. High defense, pushed that trademark jab out nicely, etc. Biggest thing I noticed was his handspeed was slower. I think to call him SHOT is stupid. I think if he took some tune-ups going into this fight it would have been good for him. Just my opinion. Love ya, Wink!
You know what I mean. He could have taken 2-3 fights against bum of the month types, knocking the rust off in the process.
Yeah, I knew that but Winky is Winky. He wants a ton of money every fight. He ain't gonna get a mill or two for a tune up fight.
He didn't look terrible for an old guy comin off a 3 year layoff, compare his performance against Mosleys lol, also Quillin has the wrong style for Winky to come back to, I think at 154 he might have a chance against Kirkland and Trout due to styles, and lol at nearly bein knocked out, this guys block is too good to get stopped unless its a one punch knockout
Winky looked OK given the circumstances. He was a little rusty and a little older looking, but Quillin is continuing to improve still even after showing great improvement after first moving west. I think Winky could still beat some decentr guys out there. His problem was he never had good pop at 160. That, and Quillin is improving. That said, I would like to see Winky consider hanging them up. He's most likely not winning a title at 160. Then again, if he could find a decent guy who is a winnable fight for him I'd not mind seeing it.
Winky shoulda took a tune up first. Kid Chocolate is a bad dude. I had no idea. Im a big fan now. Winky can do some damage at 54. He looked pretty good. Quillin defense was on point.
Should have rematched Taylor and claimed that middleweight title. Shame. I think he did pretty okay tonight. I think the cards were stacked against him, fighting a guy who was much bigger and doing so at 160. I may be a huge Wright stan, but I feel he can go to 154 and make some noise still. He looked like the Winky of old to me, for the most part.
I'm more or less in agreement IF he can comfortably do 54 still. I think his lack of pop at middleweight has always hurt him, and you could see it against Taylor even. Compare that to the way he was visibly stinging Mosley.
Yeah, Taylor walked through a lot of his shots. Had Winky had more pop in that fight, Taylor leaves the ring on a stretcher. Winky won that damn fight.

I actually thought Wright looked OK . . . AT TIMES. . . He just doesn't belong at 160, especially now that he's older, and feebler. . . But he was pressing the fight a lot more than I thought, and was landing some clean, flush shots. . Even flurrying him out on the ropes. . But his punches weren't even coming close to haivng an effect on big ass, natural 168 pound Quillen. . . You could tell Wright was rusty as hell, especially the first few rounds. . . Perhaps one of the best jabs of the past few decades - he was kind of "pushing it", and it wasn't as straight, and crisp as usual. . But he started snapping that chain out there better around the 4th-5th.
