If it's below 1million then Winky has the right to refuse but if he's offered exactly 1million then I don't see why he would refuse it. He's getting a shot at the undisputed title, an undefeated highly regarded fighter and is already coming off a draw and a loss, what more could he ask for?

Very bad fight for winky considering his long layoff. I give him a chance if he'd been active, but pavliks work rate and power will cremble winky befor the final bell.

I am sure that it would do 350k buys easily but I don't think that it would be because of winky. I see it like this. Could pavlik do that many buys against someone else? I think he could against Kessler, Abraham maybe a couple of others.

On the flip side can Winky do that much? Probably not unless he fights another really big name like DLH. Winky is not and never has been a draw.

As you know Pimp I am ranked #1 among the all time great Pavlickers, and I honestly believe that Pavlik would add Winky to the growing list of guys who had never been stopped before. With a Calzaghe fight out of the question at least for the time being, and Abraham tied up for several months, there is absolutely no fight that could do more for Pavlik than Winky would. It would improve his marketing potential, and his over all rating in the boxing community.

Furthermore, There is no doubt in my mind that Pavlik is still in the learning curve. Although he has 34 fights, his total rounds of boxing is relatively low (127 rounds: 3.75 rounds per fight average.) You can spar and study tape, et, until your ass falls off, and it will not do for you what 8-10 rounds of actual boxing against a world class opponent will do. The fact that Arum and HBO are not willing to look up from their accounting ledgers even for a moment is frustrating as hell!

How many buys did Pav-Taylor do? Winky did 475K with an old Hopkins. Regardless of what people think you'll still need a good dance partner to make the fight sell. Winky-Pav would do well and Winky deserves much more than the less than $1 mil he was offered period.

BTW I don't think Pav-Abraham or Pav-Kessler would do more buys here they aren't well known enough here and Winky is.

Fair post! I think Pav would win but Winky would provide a good test because he's a vet with a southpaw stance, great jab and defence. It's just a shame that all these potential fights keep falling through.:-(

Yep -- crying damn shame. Winky is to defense what Pavlik is to offense. Winky would have his moments when he would counter punch the **** out of Pavlik. McKart is a southpaw with a turtle defense, but the record speaks for itself; Winky was always better than Bronco. The main reason for bringing him up is that for all practical purposes Pavlik finished McKart with body shots. However, Bronco does not have those freakishly long arms that Winky has. He can't cover his head and body at the same time like Winky does. Watching Pavlik try to find a way around wright's defense while watching winky try to avoid Pav's right hand would be HIGH DRAMA. I need to quit thinking about this. the fact that we're not getting this fight is really pissing me off!

Would it? I think that HBO would have gone non-PPV on this one.

This really depends on who's telling the story. Some say Winky was offered 1.33 Mil others less than a mil. At 1.33 Mil I have no sympathy for Winky.
