Although I believe Cotto is the real deal, i believe many people's prediction of the fight is that Cotto will walk through Margarito, which in my opinion is false. You have to understand that his victories against Judah and Mosley although great, aren't as great as some would think. That is why they are considering this fight to be Cotto's toughest yet. They arent saying it just to hype up the fight, they are saying it because of the risk Margarito poses to anyone he steps in the ring with at Welter. Margarito is the type of guy to make you pay for mistakes or for having an off night or for running out of gas. He is the type to be in the fighters face and make it a gritty fight, whether they feel like having a hard night or not.

Some have tried to compare Baldormir to Margarito? Well we all know Margarito is levels above Baldormir, but think about this for a moment. It was that same Baldomir that beat Zab Judah that was later defeated by Cotto. So if Cotto's victory over Zab was so great, why is it so considering that Zab was defeated by such a journeyman such as Baldomir. My point is styles make fights and regardless of athletic ability or even boxing technique, all it takes is for one guy to have an off night for it to turn into a night mare. In boxing, there are no accidents.

Mexicans root for Margarito because he embodies the Mexican warrior spirit and represents what boxing is to Mexicans. Its that tough guy mentality and heart in the ring that he shows, the blood he sheds, the punches he takes, while still coming coming forward, still coming over on top with his hands raised up high and the belt wrapped around his waist that people respect and recognize, at least in my eyes, as the people's champion. Add that the guy came virtually from nowhere or nothing (raised in Tijuana Mexico - like Erik Morales though he was born in Tijuana ), adds to the respect he gets from the Mexican community.

What is intriguing is that someone who favors Margarito's style may also already be a fan of Miguel Cotto. Cotto, similarly, displays a macho-warrior spirit in the ring, brutal body attack style, and often doesn't back-up. The difference is that he seems to have more control and is more tamed than the more relentless Margarito. This should prove to be an exciting bout which I can't wait to see it unfold. Perhaps, this is the most anticipated bout of the year for hard core boxing fans, like was Taylor vs Pavlik I in 2007.

 

ill tell you this if cotto gets tired like he did against mosley, it will be lights out. If tony senses you're hurt or tired he'll finish you. TONY KO 9 in a brutal fight.

 

I respect Tony and I can hardly wait for his showdown with Cotto. It should be one hellova fight. That being said he would get demolished by Winky. I sometimes like to compare Clottey's defence to Winky's and in Tony's fight against Clottey he was neutralized by Clottey's defence for the first 4 rounds until Clottey sustained a hand injury. I would argue that Clottey defence was so good that Tony landed fewer clean punches in the 7 or 8 rounds he won than Clottey did in the 4 or 5 rounds that he won. We all know Winky's known for his shell like defence and I personally can't envision Margarito being able to crack it.

Also Tony is a one dementional fighter who always comes forward and throws high volume punches. In order to beat a defensive oriented fighter like Winky Wright, one must be able to give Winky many different looks and also has to have to ability to adjust during the coarse of 12 rounds. Now if Cotto one day out grew the welter weight division, he would possess that type of skill set needed to beat a Winky Wright.

 

Little man you're a hard core PBF hater and it makes you sick he beat all of you heros most with ease and talked **** doing it. You can't sleep at night knowing he retired undefeated and on top of the game.:deal

WTF are you talking about? Willimas kicked Marg's ass . He was kicking his ass from the opening bell. Margarito managed to rally late but that rally meant little to nothing.

Williams came out in the 12th like it was the 1st:deal And put a seal on any chance for a Margarito charity win.

 

Anyone that thinks rationally knows PBF or Winky gives Margo a boxing lesson. No need to prove it when better fights were out there for both for example taylor& Hopkins for Winky and Baldo, Hoya & Hatton for PBF. Margo is not in their class period and both are stylistic nightmares for him.:deal

BTW don't be mad at me because PBF beat your heros and made you look stupid fight after fight as you picked and rooted against him.
