Winky vs Williams OFFICIAL DONE APRIL 11th HBO

It's just an old saying based on a prehistoric game show that reflects my old age.:hey

I simply do not know where Winky is at this point in is career. Did he get old? Will he come back well rested and strong? Who knows?

That's why I preface statements about winky with the word "IF." If he can still fight like he did against JT, he should score a clear UD over Williams.

 

Williams is young and hungry and has an 82 inch wing span. I'd say that is going to be a challenge for anybody to overcome, much less a man 5 or 6 years past his prime.

 

I didn't realize that the fight wasn't already signed. Anyways I see the fight as a tough challenge for both fighter because of the contrast in styles. I do favor PTP's high work rate and youth over the older Wright who is over defensive at times.

Yes, Williams is young, hungry, and on a roll, but the differrence in skills, and quality of past opposition is enormous. And, yes, PW has 82" overall reach, but he does not do a great job of fighting tall, or taking full advantage of his reach, and Winky has ungodly long arms. I don't think the reach adavantage will play that much of a roll. All in all, it should be a good fight, and it's definitely an interesting clash of styles.

Paul "The Punisher" Williams....Age: 27.....Height: 6'1".........Reach: 82"

Ronald "Winky" Wright...........Age: 37.....Height: 5'10 1/2"...Reach: 72"


The 10 year difference in age sticks out, so does the 10" reach advantage. I can possibly envision Winky making it an inside fight in this one and being the aggressor as he was against Hopkins and Taylor. That will nullify PW's reach and power, which is generated from distance and him being able to sit down on his punches. If Winky is constantly close to his chest, PW won't have that advantage. Winky's a pretty busy guy himself but there is no telling how much his stamina will have been affected since his last fight.

Really, the X-factor is Winky. I can't wait for this one. Winky Wright is BACK baby!

 

Great fight. Winky to me was well past his prime even before the Hopkins fight, and I have to figure he'll look at least as bad as he did in that.

His style could still make a tough fight for Williams (or anyone, for that matter) but I'd have to go with Williams here, based if nothing else on his youthful energy and vigor.

Personally, I'll be rooting for Winky though.

 

Winky aint fought in 2 years, i dont see the point in this fight......Williams couldn't of found a better opponent?

 

Honestly, I think the judges are gonna give it to PW based on activity.

 

Paul is going to be too active in this fight if Winky goes into his defensive style! Paul is tall and has a snapping jab..Paul UD!

 

Yeah, Paul is gonna throw 100 punches a round and the crowd is gonna like that, and thats the verdict.
