Winky Wright - How will he be regarded in 20 years?

of course, winky makes every fight competitive, and gives everybody trouble and makes them look awkward/frustrated, but against PW, the best Winky could do is get a split decision, in PW's favor, PW is too tall and throws too many punches for Winky

 

I happen to agree as previously stated , the one thing id be concerned about if i were PW is my chin !!!! , while not china its not granite either , and Winky would of hit him clean on it several times ............

Overall ive got Williams purely down to style , ive got Winky way way above PW AT though ...................

oh yes, Winky would bust PW up, but still, its the style, so how far back do you set Winky on the ATG list on the account of his loss to PW?????

 

Im a big Winky fan , so id like to be able to say that the PW fight should go down as a free be , thinking of how good Winky was back in the day , he was a shadow of his former self when he fought Williams , and it was almost heartbreaking to watch , im not big on AT lists either i admitingly dont know enough about the older fighters , my love for this sport started with likes of Winky , Oscar , Mosley , Tito , etc etc so for me Winky is highly regarded .

Do i think PW has the ability to surpass Winky ??? yes !!!!

But his big fights just dont add up to what Winkys do , his acheivements are barely scratching Winkys surface at the moment , and with no super fights in sight either im placing Winky way above Williams on the list of modern greats ...............................

 

yea, i started watching boxing in '00, and if Winky biggest losses could be turned around to wins, who knows what could've happened, fact is that his biggest losses (besides the PW fight) were CLOSE decisions, that alot of people think Winky won (Vargas, Taylor) but i think PW might surpass Winky, but i doubt any of the major players at 147-160 will fight him, but once he cracks that seal, the sky is the limit, it's just that nobody wants to fight a tall as starvin' marvin looking guy that throws a million punch per fight

 

I just dont think Williams has the opponents , Floyd and Pacquiao want nothing to do with him and they will retire having not fought him , Martinez wants nothing to do with him but will probably end up fighting him again , Pavlik cant see it !!!

Berto , Cotto , Angulo (he's a possible) , who is there for Williams to fight to be compared to some of Winkys opponents , i mean the sums just dont add up , and your right Winky was in some razor close decisions , but he did school some top fighters as well , i can never see Paul Williams and Winky Wright being mentioned in the same breath unless people start wanting to fight PW and that aint happening any time soon .
