Golden Boy Promotions, Wrights promoter, is in negotiations with the handlers of veteran Felix Sturm for a fight late this year or early next year in Germany. Sturm retained his WBA middleweight belt by narrowly outpointing Khoren Gevor on Saturday. Wright is coming off a one-sided loss to Paul Williams in April after a 21-month hiatus from boxing. Winky made it clear that hed go to Germany, said Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy. Ive already had conversations with Universum [Sturms promoter) and were scheduled to have further discussions (this) week. Well see if we can pull it off. Winky reminded me that he fought many times in Europe. He has a well-known name internationally as well as in the U.S. "We realize Sturm is champion; obviously, hell get the champions privileges. Its definitely a doable deal. Wright also told Schaefer that hed love to fight RING middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. I know Bob Arum [Pavliks promoter] is on vacation, Schaefer said. Winky made it clear to me hes interested as well in fighting Pavlik. His first choice is Sturm, though. Golden Boy had considered having Wright fight on the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Juan Manuel Marquez undercard on Sept. 19 but Wright is getting married on Aug. 1.

If Wright easily beats Sturm, does this make Williams beating Wright even bigger? Cause it will show Wright ain't even close as a done fighter that many make excuse as to why Williams won it easily.
i dunno about making that win even bigger. Most people would expect PW to destroy Sturm and Winky might be a slight favorite. If Winky beat Pavlik then you can start talking.
I have to disagree with you farm, I "thought" also Sturm was this excellent technician and underrated fighter, but after the gevor fight, one thing that gevor showed the boxing world is, you take away Sturms amazing jab he posesses, he is VERY beatable. He is a good counterpuncher, but it seems like he needs to extend to be comfortable and fighting him on the inside showed to me he is quite light fisted. I actually had gevor winning that fight, HIGHLY Controversial in my opinion.

Im still amazed at how Winky never became one of the really big stars. I mean he fought Trinidad - schooled him Taylor - controversial draw Hopkins - we all kno wat happend there Vargas - Was cheated out of a decision Mosley Twice - Schooled him both times never got convincingly beaten against all the great fighters either way I hope some of the old Winky is still there and he schools Sturm
