Winky Wright. Kelly Pavlik. Arthur Abraham. Who will emerge as middleweight no.1?

    Vote and discuss.

I started a thread about Winky earlier but I didn't include a poll.

Personally, I'm pretty excited about his return, I like Winky, he is a skilled operator.

With Taylor moving up and Pavlik coming back down, and Sturm and Sylvester seeming content to stay fighting in Germany, it seems we have a clear top 3 in the middleweight division (though the winner of Sturm v Sylvester could definitely come into play if they want to).

Who do you think will emerge as the King of the Middleweight division over the next year or two??? :bbb

I want to see what Winky has left after that mauling defeat at the hands of hopkins.

But I have gained a lot of respect for Authur Abraham, he is the top Middle Weight in my oppinion.

This is a difficult one, because I see Pavlik beating Wright, Abraham beating Pavlik, and Wright beating Abraham.

Hey PacFan, this is what I posted on your other thread:

Winky has a reputation for boring fights, but that is a matter of taste. Anyone who questions Winky's heart, skill, or resume' is out of line. Go back to 1996 and his victory over a prime Bronco McKart, and then work forward. He won some and he lost some, but his over all resume' is VERY impressive.

I am glad he is back in action, and I hope he is serious. He could shake things up a bit at 160.

I do not think a Wright/Abraham fight is particulary appealing from a fan friendly stand point. Styles make fights, and in this one we'd have a defensive minded fighter against a fighter who throws 35-40 punches in a busy round. However, it would establish one or the other as the second best middleweight in the world. My best guess at this point is that Winky wins a rather boring UD.

Wright/Pavlik is a very different story. A defensive wizard against an offensive machine is a great clash of styles. There is one rather obvious problem, and it is this. Top Rank and Team Pavlik have offered Winky multiple opportunites, and he has turned them all down. They called Winky out 5 or 6 times when KP was on his way up, but Winky wanted no part of Kelly. Before they made the Hopkins fight, Winky was on the short list for this fall. He turned down $2.4 million plus a cut of the PPV revenue.

However, after witnessing Pavlik's lop-sided loss to BHop, Winky's confidence is probably soaring with the eagles. He may now actually be willing to do something beyond running his mouth about fighting KP. Winky is one of only two fighters I've heard Kelly trash talk. Winky's accusations that Pavlik is ducking him apperantly pissed Kelly off. He said; "Winky Wright? Now there's a guy I'd love to smack around the ring. He's a little guy that can't hit very hard. I'd love to smack him around."

Winky Wright in good shape against a highly motivated, pissed off, Kelly Pavlik! ****in' BRING IT! I'll take KP by a clear UD or late TKO.

Abe after beating Pavlik. Then he will move up to 168.The guy nearly has to kill himself to make 160.Maybe he will fight Winky at 168 then...

Depends what Wright looks like after the lay off!!
If he's as good as the last time he campaigned at this weight he should reign supreme!!

good money is still on Kelly and AA.

Winky has the style to trouble any of them though, so we cant count him out.

Fitstly I´m a fan of Winky, Abraham, Pavlik and Sylvester, so I´m exciting about today´s middleweight division. But imo neither Sturm nor Sylvester are good enough to hang in with the other three but they are clearly number 4 and 5 in today´s division - who´s 4 and who´s 5 we will see at saturday - I´m very excited about this fight!

That leaves us with Winky, Pavlik and Abraham. Well, Winky wasn´t too active over the last year so we don´t know what he has left if he has left about 80% than he would beat King Arthur by UD but lose to Pavlik by UD.
On the other hand Pavlik would lose to AA.So they would be 1-1 against each other and we won´t have a clear cut number one.
If Winky has not left at least 80% it´s all about Pavlik and Abraham and King Arthur emerges as the King of middlweight.

Most of the time I read your oppinion I have to agree. Good man :good

Wright is the best, but I don't no if he will fight at middleweight again.Abraham vs Pavlik would be a great slugfest either way.

OK, seriously I'm not sure. Pavlik could outwork Abraham easily, but we know that "King" can KO probably anybody out there. Hard to tell, so I go for Winky :good

I voted for Abraham. I think he has the most complete skill set of those mentioned. Plus, Wink is getting up there in age. ....and I also wanted an excuse to post this pic!
