Winky Wright on Cotto vs Margo

    "I believe that it's going to be a great fight. I like Cotto, he is a very complete boxer. Margarito is a great puncher with size, but Cotto can do a lot of things. He can box a lot more and also hits hard, so I expect to see Cotto leave with the victory," Wright said. "Cotto is one the best fighters out there. He is undefeated, has gotten some big wins and has great ability. It's difficult to say who is the best boxer in the world, pound-for-pound, but finally he is one of them. Cotto doesn't need my advice to beat Margarito. Whatever he is doing, he is doing very well. Don't try to fix something that aint broke."

    So far we have Floyd Mayweather Sr, Daniel Santos and now Winky Wright picking Cotto to beat Margarito. :good

    I think most of the persons that I've seen support Margo are Mexican. Well in this board anyways. Im not saying that in a derrogatory manner. I guess they have to ride out with their countryman especially since this is being billed as the big Mexico vs PR battle.

    Still hard to say hoe he'll deal with the relentlessness of Margo. I too think Cotto will win but he'll have to box his ass off IMO.

    i agree with winky cause cotto is more of the complete boxer the only thing margarito has working for him is his power but he has to be able to hit him

    this is the sort of fight you can expect to be suprised so i wouldnt put money on it. i say cotto by UD

    I know everyone in the biz likes Cotto because he is more versatile, but I don't know. I think Margarito has the pressure and the ability to take punishment that can make this fight a brawl and I don't know if Cotto has the mindset to get on the big and run away from Margarito all night.

    Well that's were Cotto's versatility will come into play. If he was a ploddler type pressure fighter as he was categorized by many people in the past then you may be right. At this point in Cotto's career we know that he more capable than just coming straight foward. Cotto does have a plan B and C.

    Yes Margo is not the fastest, but what most people dont realize is that he throws alot of combinations. Im sure margo doesnt expect to hit a quick opponent with the first punch he throws. Everyone fights according to their attributes. The man has a granite chin, so he can take a couple to land his own shots. Cotto doesnt have Margos chin but he can box better, so he uses the style that suits him better.

    JCChavez for example wasnt the fastest boxer but thanx to his granite chin he could apply relentless pressure. And he was very successful at what he did.

    With that said im leaning towards Cotto, but I think this Fight could go either way. Both guys are warriors and it should make for a historic battle!!
