Winky Wright is an ATG at 154 and would mop the floor with Margo. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a dumbass and should stop posting ASAP. Winky is bigger stronger faster and a much better fighter than Margo could ever think about. The guy would school Margo with his jab who he would have no answer for and tee off on margo with left hands busting up Margo's face and sealing up his eye. Margo does nothing that troubles Winky he applies slow plodding uneducated pressure and wouldn't win a round. He would be picked apart and beat up against a technician the caliber or Wright.:deal
1. THIS WAS WINKY'S FIRST FIGHT AT 160 WHICH PROVES YOU DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT BOXING. After Bhop, Tito fought Mayorga at 160. 2. Winky is a tad shorter than Tito Trinidad so he didn't "tower" over him. Tito fought someone his size for a chance. 3. How is Hopkins fighting Tito a cherrypick when many were picking Tito to beat Hopkins? Hopkins beating Tito was considered an upset at the time. Only in hindsight do people like to call it a cherrypick. THIS SHOWS YOU TRULY DON'T KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT BOXING
Winky's best weight was at 154 and the "Tito had to move up" arguement is invalid because this was Winky's first fight at middlweight.
Like many boxers with a big punch, the more Tito fell in love with his power, the more it took him from what made him so good. He was a pressure fighter with a well rounded attack, then turned more into a headhunter.
Never suggested Tito 'had to move up', that was all his doing. But their frames at 154 were vastly different. Winky had the build of a natural JrMW. Tito still looked 'soft' at 154. But packing a punch is quite the equalizer.
A few years later, yes. And lets be honest, if anyone can make a top level fighter who's past it look great, it's Mayorga. Worked for DLH too. Winky vs. Tito at 160 had Tito stayed active post Hopkins would have been more competitive. NOt saying that means Tito wins, but I believe the activity woulda kept him much sharper. Size isn't stricly defined by weight or height. Your build tells a lot. P WIll is taller then Martinez, but I sertainly wouldn't say he's bigger. I think he was rewferring to Winky fighting Tito as a cherry pick, not Hopkins. Hence the 'fought once in three years' comment.
Look up posts and articles of peoples picks before it happen and you will see not everyone expected Winky to dominate Tito. In hindsight we used the "haven't fought" excuse but I don't remember it being a consensus that Winky was going to humiliate Tito.
I wouldn't expect everyone to think that, nor do I recall many saying Winky would himuliate Tito. I know a lot picked Tito to win too. Hindsight or not, doesn't change the fact that that the case.
As opposed to Margarito who (maybe through his promoter) turned down career high paydays with Winky Wright, Mayweather and Paul Williams while calling himself the most avoided man in boxing The only reason it wouldn't be a foregone conclusion if the unskilled Mexican used missile launchers in his gloves instead of his regular cement. How the hell is Santos leftover even competitive, he wouldn't. Watch the Santos fight, who isn't on Winky's level and come back and explain.
Trinidad always was defensive poor and could always be outboxed. Unless you think he was past prime against Delahoya? A cherry pick atsch Tito looked devastating against Mayorga when Mayorga was prime. No Winky didn't tour over Tito, weren't they the same height? Tito couldn't make 147 and then couldn't make 154, in fact didn't he look soft at 147 too, he just didn't have a muscular build. Tito wanted the fight at 160, not WInky
