Paul lost to, and struggled with, southpaws most times he fought them. I see no reason why a prime Winky can't one up Quintana or Lara himself.
Would probably be a tight one, but I'd lean towards Winky here. He had the same problem early in his career as Lara, being a bit too negative and not pressing home his stylistic advantage, which cost him a couple of verdicts here and there. Difference is, Winky really corrected that later in his career and got his overdue rewards and recognition. Lara hasn't quite got there yet. The Wright who fought Mosley, Trinidad and even Taylor to some degree had a pretty considerable physical presence about him and was getting off first, pushing his man back, not giving them breathing space. So Wright for me. I do have a soft spot for Winky though....So let me know if that post stinks of bias.
What? This doesn't even make sense. Paul had major issues, and needed a controversial decision, vs Lara, who he out-weighed by 10lbs. He was out-jabbed and out-boxed by a lesser southpaw than Winky in Lara. He also actually was out-boxed and actually lost to another lesser southpaw in Quintana.
It makes sense to people who know boxing. Winky had the high guard defense that allowed Williams to throw 100+ punches. That’s why he always would’ve had problems with Williams. Williams was past it for the “lesser” Lara btw.
