Winky Wright vs Fernando Vargas

I think winky was robbed too.

Been years since i've seen it though.

 

I remember scoring it 115-113 for Winky. I haven't watched it in years, I remember it was an entertaining bout.

Vargas had a lot of exciting, grueling bouts in a short period of time: Wright, Quartey, Trinidad, DLH.

 

It was a competitive fight, but I think Winky was too active for Fernando. Fernando did have a late comeback in the later rounds, but it could of been a draw to be fair. Winky should of got the decision. Great performance by Winky. Despite being outgunned, not being the powerpuncher Vargas was, Winky just let it all hang out and was fearless when he opened up from his shell. That fight was a precursor of things to come for Winky.

 

Winky was robbed but Vargas fought well against Winky's guard ..Jabbing to the body great technical fight ..

 

Winky won but he was never gonna get the win because he was always supposed to just an 'opponent' but look who had the better career....

I am a HUGE fan of both guys. I had it 114-114. I don't think a 115-113 score is wrong for either guy. Close fight, great fight.

 

I'd like to add if anyone should have won, it was Winky.

 

I thought Vargas came on strong in the championship rounds and did enought to earn a draw.

 

Each guy won 2 of the championship rounds, so neither had a "stronger" finish. The best I could see for Vargas is a draw, giving him every close round.

 

Had Winky winning 9 rounds to 3. No way in hell did Vargas deserve to win. Winky schooled his one dimensional burrito eating ass.

 

No one won 9 rounds in that fight.
