Too funny I have been on a Winky binge today and watched Mosley 1 & 2 and Tito. It was during the fight with Tito that I began to wonder how GGG would land on Winky's defense? I think Winky would frustrate him and take s narrow perhaps SD or MD, but I envision Winky winning
Let's not get too carried away with Winky. I always liked Winky. But, let's be realistic. He was really a junior mideweight. And not only did he get battered around by Julio Cesar Vazquez, but, he had his hands full with Bronco McCart for Christ's sake. I think his wins over Trinidad and Mosley speak more to where their careers were at that point. GGG wins this one without controversy. But Winky's solid defense would get him to the final bell in all likelihood.
Winky hit his prime late because he didn't plant his feet enough in his younger days. Shane and Tito never would've beaten Winky at his best.
Golovkin blasts him. I've seen Winky fight live many a time and he really only has one gear. Vasquez blew thru his guard at 154 and it wasn't just cuz Winky was green. Golovkin does this in a much more clinical fashion and ends it in 8.
Golovkin by compeititive decision. Let's not forget that Wright's best weight was 154.GGG was bigger than Tito.
Hm, I don't know. Can see that either way. Wright at his best was very difficult to fight, GGG may well beat him but he might as well struggle landing anything significant while Wright scores away with his jab. However, it's funny that people who pick Golovkin don't argue why Golovkin would win but why Winky would lose. Wonder why. And I think the arguments why he would lose do not support their argument that well. "Winky was a jmw really", he was but a big one and he did draw/beat a big very good mw in JT and he did hang in with Hopkins at 170, while he was too small for that weight, he still showed he could be competitive. "Vazquez beat him, so would Golovkin". Fair enough, however, that was before Winky changed his style from trying to be cute to his high-guard, jab heavy, high volume-style. Aside Vazquez and Golovkin don't really fight alike.
Super interesting fight I make Winky the very slight favorite 55/45 fight. When it comes to footwork and walking down the opponent Winky and GGG are P4P probably the 2 best to ever do it
Very hard to expect to beat Golovkin without some serious lateral and backward movement. Golovkin would relish a guy standing pretty still with his gloves tucked around his face. Golovkin would be chucking plenty of Rubio type hooks at Winky's skull, and mixing in plenty of body shots. A rough points loss is the very best I could give him. Let's not forget that a 35 year-old, past-his-peak Golovkin just chased down a 27 year-old pound4pound entrant.
