Wright's taller than Langford and as tall as Jeanette, has good reflexes, and fights with a modern style. On fight nights, he weighs about the same as Choynski, who beat Johnson. Besides, Jack Johnson preyed on smaller men anyway, and Johnson's era was so poor that the second-best heavyweight in the world during Johnson's time as a contender (Jim Jeffries) would lose to Hopkins and Roy Jones. I say Winky boxes Johnson silly over twelve rounds. Who's with me?!?!?! This content is protected
Yeah the classic is getting a bit like that if thats what you're trying to imply. If you're serious then yeah wtf?
Its a joke, for ****s sake. Chill. Play along with it for once, have some fun, instead of doing duuuurrr is this fo' srs and raising your blood pressure. :-(
Wow, I guess realizing that His Royness would box circles around Jeffries ruffled some feathers. But to stay on topic, which fin de siecle great does Smoke Gainer beat?
I just figured I'd run with it. :yep This can be solved in four easy steps: 1) Driscoll's technique is more modern than Hamed's 2) Gainer's technique is more modern than Driscoll's 3) Hamed would beat Gainer 4) The universe explodes
The reverse-snobbery might be worse than the snobbery. I don't see Winky beating Johnson, nor do I see some stylistic reason for him to. Attribute-wise he doesn't have the ingredients needed to do handle the job either. Jones Jr on the other hand might has the natural athletic ability and skills to out-box Jeffries. Jones Jr, however, has little chance against Jack Johnson. I think...
Both sides make this place interesting, though. I suspected that this would be one of the answers, and I'm genuinely curious: What factors would help Johnson succeed against Jones where Jeffries fails? If anything, Johnson is less mobile, less modern, and relies more on reflexes than Jeffries.
This is pretty simple. Roy can't help but lead with his power punches. He does that against Lil Artha, and he gets countered and murked. Even a prime Roy. There's obviously no way he wins on the inside. :rofl:good
Considering the thread, I don't see why not. Can we also pretend Johnson had no skills? Or that he's Jack Johnson the singer?
Unfortunately, Johnson's counters often placed him off balance (feet together, hands low, etc.) He skip-step-lunged into his jab, and his right had the same problem. Roy, on the other hand, managed to get his shots off against faster fighters than Johnson. In Roy's prime, nobody consistently countered him. I agree that Roy gets clobbered on the inside, however.
