Calzaghe, there is no doubt in my mind. Winky isnt far behind at all though and is very underrated by many people.

how can anyone even compare Calzaghe to Wright? Calzaghe won all his fights and Wright lost here and there. Wright is good but Calzaghe was better. Just look at the Hopkins fight. Wright lost decisively and Calzaghe beat Hopkins. Calzaghe was better.

How this idiocy continues with the simplistic reasoning of "Winky lost a few times. Calzaghe never did" is beyond me. We got past that in the first post. Or so I'd hoped.

also, boxing maths, eh. Nice. Another highly ignorant way to go about it.
Styles make fights, kid... and all 3 are quite a bit different.

Cagey, defensive, rough-house tactics ring general vs. a slick defensive master with a turtle-like defense (talking in his prime, ofcourse) who picks his shots well & was hugely feared despite his lack of KO power! vs. a guy with an amateur style.. LOTS of punches in bunches... great handspeed & movement. You do know who is who in these 3 descriptions, right?

It's difficult to compare. Wright fought frankly tomato cans mostly in France who noone ever heard of to boost his record for the first 4 years, then LOST a couple of times when fighting strong opposition, fought a certain Bronco McKart no less than 3 times to boost his record again, and then had like 7 good fights in a row at the end of his career. Without that 7 fights, Wright shouldn't even be mentioned. However, those 7 fights kind of propel him past Calzaghe from the record point of view, as Calzaghe doesn't have 7 signature fights at all. On the other hand, Calzaghe didn't lose in any of the big fights of his career, and beat the very same Hopkins who mugged Wright.

In the end, his record looks better from the names at the end of his career, while Calzaghe found a way to win every fight. Flip a coin over what you rate higher.

Winky at times struggled to get fights on the right level in the States & unlike most Americans, came over to Europe without any fuss.

This guy never got enough respect in his prime & clearly, even after it... he still isn't getting paid his dues. History, it seems, will not be kind to Winky as the non-thinking majority won't let it!
