Interesting matchup I haven't seen debated much. I think Winky could still make 160, albeit narrowly. It's hard to visualise this fight -- Winky would find him with the jab, and score points, and it's hard to imagine Winky being knocked out.

I'd still go for Kelly, but Winky would be a very live underdog.

Pavlik/Wright would be like W. Klitschko/Byrd at middleweight.

That cutsie **** wont work against Pavlik. You need to MOVE. Anybody would can't move is going to be put into a meat grinder by Pavlik.

You better have Ali/SR Leonard like leg work against Pavlik at 160-68.

That's Taylor's problem. He's athletic but not in that bouncy leg/lateral movement kinda way.

Wright has never been KOed, but he's never been hit with a flush right hand from Pavlik.

Pavlik would win probably by ref stops contest due to damage and Wright being mauled on the ropes late.

Winky was at his best below 160. Kelly is basically a lightheavyweight who has a freakish ability to shed pounds and fight at 160 without being drained. Winky has neve been KO'd, well, he has something in common there with Pavliks last four opponents before Pavlik knocked them out. I don't see any fighter who was at his best below 160 beating Pavlik. Winky has nothing offensively to slow down Pavlik, who keeps coming forward and doesn't tire. It would be a one - sided beating IMO.

I think people are being a bit harsh on Winky, in his fight against Taylor, he was robbed, and in his fight against Hopkins was headbutted all over the place, despite resembling a beached whale at 170lbs - in fact I had him a point up after 8 rounds, before the cut weakened him down the home straight.

I think he could make 160 with little trouble, and would give Pavlik a hard time. This is a tough one to call IMO

Id love to see this fight, both fighters has great workrate, winkys defense would save him from Pavliks KO power, and winkys jab would keep pavlik off him, but If im not mistaken Pavlik is slightly bigger, and thats the main reason why I think he would edge decision to his favor.
Oh and both fighters prefer to fight outside, wich favors Pavlik slightly too.

I agree for the most part as you make very important points:
Nobody could see Taylor or Miranda getting KOd either...Wright would be just another reputable name to get whipped and put to sleep by Pavlik aside from this Winkys counters would be laughed off by Pavlik.
You are correct I think it would have to take a fighter that can move as well as Ali/SRL/or PBF to outwit and outbox Pavlik. However there is nobody that slick, fast, or powerful(yes all these are required) at 160 or 168...Taylor was the closest thing to that and he got pummeled...So the best brawler(Miranda at the time) and the best boxer(Taylor) at 160 were put to sleep.....I'm convinced already.....Wright may have the ability to break the record of a 9 round fight with Pavlik but I doubt it...Sure he may give a better fight than Taylor but when the end result is an ultimate whiplash induced nap it doesnt matter...Pavliks intelligence is highly underrated.. He would as he says have a gameplan for any top MW or SMW and beat them...sure this theory may be scrutinized on here..however a die hard fan of any top contender at MW or SMW would certainly be worried...Pavlik will always be doubted as he may not be as polished or slick as others out there he will just methodically knock them out...You'll hear it after everyone of his fights in the future "I don't know what happened to my hero in there..he's faster than Pavlik, smarter than Pavlik, more experienced than Pavlik, I just don't know went wrong with him, he just wasnt himself" The easy answer which may be difficult to swallow is Pavlik happened...Cheers:rasta

Tough one to pick, Wright makes everyone awkward with the peek a boo, but Pavlik would likely out work him and win a UD. I don't see Winky being KO'd.

Pavlik by UD: Solid skills, too active, too big, too strong. There's an outside chance of a Hearns vs. Duran ending.

    Winky by UD.

Don't let the Hopkins fight fool you. Winky would make Pavlik look bad.

I think it is a tough one - Pavlik is no doubt an excellent fighter, but until he KO'd Taylor he was getting a beating, and Taylor isn't exactly the best fighter in the world. Time will tell whether or not Pavlik is the real deal or not. Winky was like a beached whale against Hopkins, just didn't look right at 170 - so people have got false ideas on where the two are at.

Would like to see a rumble though!

If Winky has anything left and fought like he did against Taylor he could beat Kelly. But if he doesn't he losses.

 No he was not taking a beating from Taylor. with the exception of 1 minute in the 2nd round, he was schooling Taylor. His right hand was landing at will and was constantly backing Taylor up.
