Tough fight to predict. Props for Winky taking him on despite mad ring rust. I'm thinking it'll be a Wright MD?
Team Winky probably saw that, and figured they found a conteder that shouldnt be to hard to defeat, so Winky has a quicker way to a belt shot.
mackin had a bad performance his last fight. a good fighter will bounce back an b even better n learn from there mistakes. that bad performance can make him better. winky just isnt active enough. he prolly just ran outta money n wants to get paid again . i pick macklin just cuz he is young n hungry.
this is a bad comeback fight for winky imo macklin isnt just an upcoming prospect he is top ranked by the divisions im a big fan of winky, and hope he does well but im not sure if this is wise i havent seen much of macklin but he is hungry for a belt and seems technically decent and strong as they come good luck to both men but if we see a shot winky then this fight is all macklin's
man the irish are coming this year. first lee/duddy will have a tear on hbo wit the winner if lee possible getting a shot at martinez, then a week later brian magee fights bute in canada and in dublin on the same night willie casey takes on cuban legend guillermo rigodeux. then about a month later paul mcclosky may be taking on king khan in manchester and know mack the knife is getting a decent fight with winky man this is great for irish boxing
Based on Macklins last 2 fights, if Winky even turns up in the shape and form he did against P Will he could deffinately win this. Macklin is a nice guy and I would love him to prove me wrong, but his last fight against Veron he barely won, and Veron is a gatekeeper. Veron was outclassed completely by Sturm, a shutout. If winky has anything left at all he takes this, I wouldnt be surprised if by tko late on knowing Macklin's stamina issues. If you come on these forums and you read this Matt, you better be in the shape of your life if you want to get out in one piece and pull off the victory. Im a big Winky fan so I know who I'll be rooting for. Respect to both fighters for making this fight happen, should be a good one.
I agree. But what if he wins, but struggled? I figure, he's aloud to have a tough time ending his two year layoff against a guy with a pulse.
He'll get a certain amount of age/rust leeway but stylistically (and given how much Macklin struggled with the D-level Varon) Wright really has no business losing more than a couple of rounds.
I thought Macklin/Barker was a done deal? But, if it happens, Winky will most probably shut Macklin out.
Jesus Christ. You really have to wonder what Winky is thinking. I mean the guy is like 38 and near the end and he hasn't fought in 2 years? How many times has he fought in the last 5 years? 2-3 times? Just makes you wonder what he's thinking.
He loves to outbox people. :yep It can't be money. Ronny's a smart, shrewd guy. Isn't Winky Promotions still partnered with GBP?
Fair enough thought process, I can agree here then. Obviously I personally feel it will be a competitive match, but I agree that if Winky is to have a hope of being truely relevant again, and not just a name, he will need to almost shut out Macklin. I keep forgetting that, Macklin struggled that much with his last opponent, I have to watch that fight still.
