he will not get MASSIVE credit from most fans...wink is not in his prime..not in his weightclass and does not hold a title...he was p4p 3 years ago...that is over now...he has lost his last 2 fights...or hasn't won in 2 fights...kessler HOPKINS would give him credit...or taylor or bute...but it is a good win
I really don't think Winky-Wright is a tougher challenge than Mundine at 168. Mundine was at least athletic and awkward, bigger and stronger. There isn't much Wright can do. I don't think he can stand there and try to jab a guy way bigger and stronger, who has an extremely good jab himself. If he tries to outwork Kessler he gives Kessler a lot of opportunities and has to come out of his natural shell. If he goes toe to toe, Kessler is a bigger puncher and Wright's punches are not going to hurt anybody at this weight.
Kessler already has "good" wins that are not appreciated, because they are not against big enough names. I'd quite happily take a win over a good name just to get him back on the map, regardless of whether he's actually a credible 168lb fighter. People still buy into Wright, even now, and even at this weight. I'd be happy with this fight, or for Kessler to fight Glen Johnson if he can't get the others at 168. I think that would be an excellent fight for Mikkel and would showcase him perfectly given the styles, and given Johnson took Dawson to hell.
Calzaghe would win on workrate alone. Guards don't score points. It shows that you are hiding from your opponent. If you weren't afraid, you wouldn't put on a guard while he's shoeshining you with his slaps.
Believe me, winky has a good chance of winning. However, Kessler's workrate can overcome the safe approach of Wright. If this fight gets made, good stuff. It will give Kessler some credit, and if winky wins, then... 168 just got crazy.
Finally a name opponent. :bbb Although Mikkel will get no credit for absolutely dominating (and possibly stopping) Wright. :verysad At least people will shut up about how sheltered and Euro-centric he is.
