i think that winky wouldnt be able to handle the size and strength of kessler, kessler aint ever gettin down to 160.kesslers hammer of a jab would honestly have winky quitting on his stool in the late rounds and i wouldnt be surprised if kessler landed a midround ko with a huge right upper.
On the contrary, Winky Wright is just as aggresive, if not more aggressive than Kessler. Winky's defense is great but that doesn't mean he is not on the offensive. Watch his fights with Vargas, Soliman, Taylor, Hopkins, etc - he is movving forward and initiating exchanges all the time.
Kessler talked about facing Taylor/Pavlik at 164 just a few weeks ago - so Kessler can go below 168 - he had little problems making weight versus Calzaghe (just had to drop the undies ) Kessler will beat Winky UD - 10-2 if fought in the US. But it would be a great fight for Kessler.
I truly doubt Kessler could go down to 164 and still perform at high level. Kessler is a huge guy even at 168. You ca see from his body frame, he is even bigger than Calzaghe and Calzaghe is struggling to make 168.
I would definitely say yes. However history will not be so kind to Kessler, just because he will be more known to be the guy who lost to Calzaghe.
Calzaghe is claiming to be struggling to make 168 - but he was only 166½ against Kessler - so either Calzaghe isn't good at timing his weight or he isn't struggling to make weight as he claims... As for Kessler reaching 164 - he made 168 without any weightdrain at all - so dropping 4 pounds of water in a workout/sauna shouldn't be a big problem - although of course no advantage to Kessler. If making 164 is what it takes to make a big fight in the US I'm sure Kessler will make 164
depends on how he fairs from now on - afterall Hopkins and Toney aren't remembered as the ones who lost to RJJ
Honestly I think anyone YOUNG with a reasonable amount of talent is going to be tough for Winky, if they fight him in the middle of the ring like Jermain did. Winky's legs are in real bad shape, he doesn't have ability to keep up with a younger fighter with decent footwork and good stamina. Kessler can definitely beat him. As far as Winky being too small though, Winky is not a real big guy, sure, but he's not a NATURAL 154 lb fighter. He always had to drain down a lot of weight to make 154. I'm pretty sure he walks around at around 170.
