Winky was a very good boxer and extremely durable. He was a bit smaller than Benn though and not sure he ever tasted that kind of power. Still, he might have outlasted him. Not totally sure

Especially if it takes place in the UK.

And Winky was enough of a road warrior to sign a contract like that. I think it is a close bout but think the homecrowd helps Benn to get the nod in this.

I'm surprised at all the votes for Benn.

First off Watson used a high guard defence like Wright and then stopped him with a jab.

Malinga also used a high guard and controlled Benn with the jab and should've been 2-0 vs him but Benn got a gift decision in their first fight.

Benn improved when he moved up to Super Middleweight at Middleweight he was still a bit raw.

Realistically Middleweight is the fairest weight this hypothetical match up can take place at and I think at Middleweight Wright outpoints Benn.

Wright has a better high guard defence than the 2 fighters I mentioned above who gave Benn all types of trouble. Not to mention Wright has an even better jab and would be consistently landing it on Benn.

I liked winky, respected the guy as a fighter.. but I think Benn is too powerful.
I think he'd eventually be battered down by Nigel.

I take Wright on points, I think he would of frustrated the hell out of Benn, southpaw, stick and move and as the rounds go by so the scorecard pressure would of been on Benn.

I'm a fan of both, Benn's big plus his power but at 160 he would tire mid rounds on. Winky is a guy that had an elite boxing IQ, boxer over the puncher and for a puncher like Benn the more frustrated he would get the more he would get tagged.

Unless Benn catches Wright inside the first four rounds, he simply gets outboxed for me.

Wright UD IMO, but Benn has a fair punchers chance.

    Wright by UD.
Benn had power but he was a crude slugger at the end of the day.

Those were the fights that came to mind for me as well. Benn had huge problems with Watson's high guard and Malinga's jab. He wasn't entirely convincing in the second fight with Galvano either.

Benn wasn't a huge middleweight, so I don't see much of a size difference.

You could cite the Vazquez fight as a reason to favour Benn, but viewed in the context of Winky's full career it seems to be a mix of an aberration and him being green. He didn't show any durability issues throughout the rest of his career unless I'm missing something.

I think it's just one of those bad style match-ups, where you immediately favour one fighter despite their overall standing being similar.

Another one of Winky Wright’s attributes was his physical strength….it doesn’t get talked about enough

Go and watch Benn against Michael Watson, Sanderline Williams and both fights he boxed against Malinga. He lost the second and get a gift in the Sanderline Williams fight and the first Malinga fight.

I'm going with Winky UD but if we're realistic he'd come to England, outbox Benn and lose a robbery hometown decision

Benn would be punching mitts all night and probably get broken down over the course of the fight. Wright UD seems about right.
