Winky Wright vs Verno Phillips in the fall

I've read this too. If Wright can get himself down to 154 without too much of a struggle, then I'm all for it. He could clean out the division in my opinion by beating Phillips, Forrest, Alcine, and Dzinziruk. That would do a lot for his legacy.

 

So Winky refused a fight with Abraham and Kessler to fight Phillips?

 

Winky's one of my top 3 fav fighters. I just want to see him get back in the ring.

 

I wouldn't mind seeing Winky stick around to take out the young guns at 154lbs either like Angulo and Martirosyan assuming they stay busy and get more fights under their belts. As well as any guys who can't make 147lbs anymore and finish his career calling out DLH and calling it a career!

 

154lbs is his legacy, he belongs at 154lbs no need to fight guys who have him just because of their physical size and power. I don't have a problem at all with Winky saying screw off to everyone at 160+lbs..he's got nothing to prove up there right?

 

I kind of doubt Winky can make 154 again. He hasn't fought at that weight since he beat Mosley and that was what? 4+ years ago? Who knows. Maybe he can. If he can and isn't drained, he'll beat anyone at that weight.

 

Winky is the odd man out. .. shoulda gone after Mayo instead.

 

You know he did arguably beat the former linear champion at 160

there is no legacy at 154 for winky, just easy belts.

Just goes to show how good he is and how tricky his style is to get past. He doesn't belong at 160lbs, he could milk 154lbs for as long as he wants for all I care.

 

If Winky really plans to go back to 154, than he should forget about Phillips and go after the only fight that would create some interest. . . . Vernon Forrest.

 

I wish Winky would fight series of eliminators for the 160 pound title too become the Mandatory for Pavlik title. Winky could fight David Lopez and Sebastian Zbik:hat beat them and become number the contender in WBC and WBO title:thumbsup Then Arum would have too make the fight:deal

 

I think Winky is gonna wup up Phillips and then wait till december to call out DLH. And then call it a career with a few million hehe
