Winky is not overrated at all, he just priced himself out of fights due to his stupidity. If he was fine with being a decent HBO earner then he would've done more but he wanted to be a star, obviously not gonna happen with that style.

 

Anybody who considers him the best head to head fighter ever at 154 is overrating him, but for the most part, I think he's viewed correctly. A great defensive fighter with a great jab and outstanding technical skills. With a little more luck on the cards, he could've been a lineal junior middleweight AND middleweight champion with wins over Trinidad, Mosley twice, Vargas, Taylor, Quartey, etc. Not a bad resume.

 

Aside from vasquez winky won every fight he had up until the hopkins fight imo.

Without doubt one of the greatest lmw's in history and it's just a shame he never got the big 154 fights with tito or oscar.

 

Underrated I've seen some people calling him "bum" on the net, but who isn't.
