If Winky Wright isn't a complete shell of his former self, he should beat Paul Williams by a comfortable decision.

    Why?

Well for one, Paul Williams isn't a particularly fast nor accurate fighter.

If Margarito who is a slow fighter, and not known for blocking punches with his gloves was able to block the majority of William's punches, this means that either Williams isn't particularly fast or that he's predictable.

Winky Wright, who's getting older and may be suseptible to a fast and accurate puncher, should not have to worry about that as Paul is not fast enough to trouble Winky with his SPEED. As they say, speed kills and Paul just doesn't have it, but he's not SLOW either.

Unlike Margarito, Winky Wright IS known for blocking punches.

So Paul will find limited success from the outside, even if he is on the top of his game and fights like he did against Margarito where he managed to keep the fight in the center of the ring, hook and turn, and fight at a distance.

Paul will become increasingly frusterated as his punches are having little to no effect on Winky who will likely be coming foward using his jab, but managing to cover up effectively as he always does when his opponent is on the offensive.

And considering Paul generally brings his fight to his opponent, this frusteration will probably cause him to engage Winky on the inside, where he will wail away on Winky's gloves and arms amatuerishly as Winky throws a high volume of effective counters.

You got to understand that in Winky we have a fighter that somewhat recently fought a ATG in Bernard Hopkins and gave him a competitive fight. Hopkins has shown no sign of slowing down since that fight and in my opinion actually looked better against Pavlik and it wasn't just because of his opposition. It seemed like Hopkins was actually in better physical condition.

This combined with the fact that Winky hasn't been beat up in a long time gives me the impression that he hasn't lost enough to lose against a guy who's best assets are his height, reach, and volume of punches.

Paul clearly doesn't have the ring intelligence of Bernard nor the defensive skills. While they are two different fighters, the point in mentioning Bernard is the quality of opposition.

Aside from Margarito and Quintana, who has Williams fought? In Winky you got a resume consisting of Mosley, Taylor, Hopkins, Quartey, and Trinidad, only one of those fights he lost.

On top of that, I don't think Paul has the power or slickness to put Winky down or out. As I said before, for a guy like Winky, height, reach, and volume just won't cut it. Also, Paul has problems with guys that can turn him, but I don't know if Winky's legs are on that level to where he can give Paul serious problems with that alone, but it will be a factor.

Winky is too good for that, and Paul Williams is not that level of fighter.

I suppose it's possible for Williams to win, but he'll have to fight on the outside as much as possible, and his volume of punches MAY be enough to sway the judges to give him the decision; however, if that is the case, and considering Winky's defense, that kind of judgement will likely be accompanied with plenty of boos from the crowd.

Winky won't knock Paul out. He doesn't have that kind of power, and Paul has too much heart and too good a chin, but he will bring Paul back to earth and change a lot of people's opinions on this board about what type of fighter Paul is at this point.

I hope Winky beats him, I would be happier than Floyd Mayweather in a dick factory.

No, Winky Wright wil not beat Paul Williams.

In fact, I'm going to make a bold call & say I think Williams will become the first to TKO Wright!

    No he doesn't.

The type of fighter Paul is, he's a fighter punching above his weight - literally.

He's not ready for the big guns at 160 yet.

    Man, I'm not a hater.

Please don't label me as a hater, I just think he's overrated. ****. You know, I used to have favorite fighters too and it would lead me to be unobjectional. I would argue that they would win under any circumstances, and I wouldn't actually weigh their strengths and weaknesses and come out with a reasonable outcome.

I was pretty much blinded by my own biased opinions. It took some of my fighters that I liked to get whupped before I learned to think about fights objectionally.

Paul is a solid fighter, but AT THIS POINT in his career, he's not on Winky's level.

I'm not saying he doesn't have the ability to get there, but he's not there yet.

Williams whole fight relies on Winky being a shell of his former self. Because if the real Winky turns up, PW ain't winning ****.

You find him boring because you probably can't appreciate a great technical boxer when you see one, and prefer to see punching bags with no skill in the ring like Antonio Margocheato.

Already got an excuse when Paul whips Winky as to why he will lose. Maybe you don't totally believe the load of crap you just posted. Damned mirror threads are never even believeable!

:lol: Sure buddy I just love it when people say that ****... " oh you don't like winky cuz u don't appreciate the sweet science " mannnn GTFO with that ****, Ive been watching boxing when u were still sucking on your mom's tits. Like I said many times before, there's a world of difference between an exciting technical fighter and a boring technical fighter..

Marquez and Finito Lopez are my favorite fighters and they are alot more technical than Winky.. and guys like Margarito and Gatti don't excite me at all.

Winky is boring because he doesn't mix up his punches and he rarely commits to his punches. Even when he has his opponent hurt, he doesn't go in for the kill and he never throws a punch with conviction. He's boring man.
