You are right about JT being hurt later in the rounds. Body shots what did him in. JT should have did the same thing, but Pavlik beat him to it. I think that's JT main problem. Can't think under pressure, and he don't stick with the game plan.
What is your source on this info? I tried to track it down, and could not find any news on it. However, if this is true, it could be good news. Andy Lee is signing with Top Rank, and one of the stipulations is that he appear on two Pavlik undercards, and Andy eventually gets a title shot if he keeps winning. So, we could see Pavlik/Abraham, Wright/Sturm, Lee/Top10?, Lee/Top 10?, Pavlik/Wright, Pavik/Lee all within the next 12 months. That kind of line up would certainly make 160 a very lively division. Boo
So let's get this straight: Wright didn't want to fight Kessler or Abraham, because he felt he was above those fights, and then priced himself out of fighting Pavlik, and now it looks like he'll be fighting Sturm, who's a lesser fighter than the first 2 and less of a money-maker than Pavlik. So what's he thinking? Maybe it's: "well, i'll make less money with this one than i would with Pavlik, but at least i can beat this guy, plus he's fought ODLH, so people know him more than those other 2 Europeans. And after i beat him, maybe they WILL pay me 5 mil to fight Pavlik." Hm. Not as illogical as it originally looked like to me now that i've thought about it.
why should he fight at 168.... he is a much smaller man only 2 pounds lighter than his lathargic light-heavy try againt hopkins. light middle is where he should be he was easily making it. he looked a bit pudgy agains taylor and trinidad and he still had a great perfoemance so. kessler needs to fight at a catch wieght of at least 163 for winky. winky is barely a middlewieght and thats the end of
Winky taking the belt from Sturm is the only real shot at a possible unification. Then Arum will have incentive to make a Pavlik/Wright fight. Maybe that is Wright's interest in Sturm? He has a carrot to dangle at Arum/Pavlik if he wins? NICE, NICE MOVE! Then Pavlik/Taylor is for 3 belts. I love it.
100% agreed. Even at MW, it looked like he had some excess on his body. It would be great if he can make it to 154 without killing himself. At MW, i think he can compete against anyone. At 154, i think he dominates anyone still.
Yes but we need to get that WBA belt in America and then it will make it easier and mostly inevitable to unify the titles !
You are correct. But the post is incomplete. Zuniga and McKart were both able to stay right in Pavlik's chest at times, and they got KTFO anyway. Pavlik's bread and butter is his outside game, but people who say he is one-dimensional, or can't fight on the inside are either foolish or they are not paying attention, and by the way, foolishness coming from Sweat Pea is rare, so WHAT THE **** YA SMOKIN' PEA???
