i think that for a guy like williams, who has taken a lot of criticism for being matched on the softer side and not against veteran opposition, a victory over wright--even if wright shows up rusty, a step behind and stuck in second gear--will win him a lot of the praise he has so far been denied. whether or not that makes sense is a whole other thing. i suspect this fight will be very close. winky has looked good in camp and seems to have naturalized the 160 pounds very well and comfortably. i think a close fight will go a long way to getting both men the credit they want and deserve for taking on the other.
obviously, the next criticism of williams that will surface if he wins will be that he only picks off old dogs on the slide. that's the nature of the game, i suppose.
