Maybe Winky should do something to get himself moved up to a mandatory? He has fought four times at middle weight and his last time was 12-2-2006? Winky's trainer is from the Youngstown area.

“The fight people want to see Winky,” Birmingham said. “In the forums, especially eastsideboxing.com, the fans want to see Pavlik in a real fight and Winky’s name was mentioned most of the time.

    Dan Birmingham.

    Good deal!

    I agree.

Also like to see Winky take Vernon Forest to school.

Yeah... too bad that on this site I won an autographed boxing glove, that was supposed to be autographed by Winky Wright. It was a writing contest, that I won. The sports writer who (along with Winky) held the contest held up his end by mailing me a videotape of 9 Winky Wright fights. Winky on the other hand stiffed me, and never sent me my glove. The writer even mailed Winky the boxing glove to autograph, as Winky wouldn't buy one himself. Winky later said that he misplaced the glove and the writer mailed him another one... Winky still never sent me the glove.

What a nice guy, I am glad that he enjoys ESB. Maybe this is why he doesn't have many fans.

Winky would beat Pavlik ... I think that he's too skilled and Top Rank want Pavlik to remain undefeated as long as possible ... a fight w/ Winky wouldn't be worth it to them.

I think that Winky should re-match Jermain at 168 since they have unfinished business.

I mean that wouldve been a rematch and possible trilogy ... these guys need to quit b/s'n before its too late.

Winky's in his late 30's and Jermain is pushin 30 or is already 30 ...

a trilogy between the two would resurrect their careers ...

I want Wright to go after Sturm. That way he can come to the bargaining table with something Kelly wants; the WBA title. This would also turn Pavlik/Wright into a big PPV event, and I think this fight deserves that. They could seal the deal as far as PPV buys by putting Abraham/Lee on the undercard.

Here's what Pavlik said about fighting Winky: "After fighting these big middleweights [Miranda, Taylor X2 ] I'd love to fight a smaller guy that doesn't hit very hard."

Bear with me here. I don't get cable so I have just started following boxing again recently since I can find some fights to download. (youtube quality just ain't good enough for me to tell what is really going on)

I have seen Winky described as a "defensive genius" and "counter puncher". How does a guy like that 'take' a championship if he isn't willing to initiate? What if Pavlik (unlikely) decides Winky does have the advantage if he takes it to him and uses his perogitave as champion to defend? Makes Winky be the aggressor? Other than everybody falls asleep? Why does a defensive minded boxer deserve a title shot if he won't be willing to throw first?

    Damned. I've been 'outed'...........

OK. No one's buying that I'm sure. Notice he didn't point out how many people DON'T want to see it because they think Winky is a boring fighter? Jack Loew has said that Pavlik puts on the kind of fight people want to see. Remember. Arum is trying to build Kelly's popularity as well. Even if he beats up the turtle, who cares?
