I see we agree something : who are the best five in the world.I just answed to your argument regarding comaparison Taylors`oponents / Bute`s openents. You opened the subject.Yes, Bute could have a not easy life with them BUT SURELY WILL NOT SUFFER FOUR DEFEATS FROM THOSE GUYS,AND NOT THREE BY KO! BUTE`S NOT TAYLOR. He`s No. 1 SMW in this moment after the The Ring. End of subject .
I guess that he things that AA or Kessler will win. Otherwise he has no say in who the other four fighter will fight after the thing is over. BTW, Im not sure that Bute will deserve to fight the winner. He hasnt done anything to this point, and fighting guys like Brinkley isnt going to make a better case for him getting the fight.
If Bute faces Pavlik and one of the first supers 6 boxers that get out and beat him in fashion, he will earn the right to face the winner. That's not done yet. As for today, he would have the right to face the winner. The tournament is not finished though and all the people in it have to face very serious opposition (well, let's forget Green). Bute has to cope with that. But, who else could make a big fight for the winner? If Ward wins, for example, he will want to cash his win. Who is bigger than Bute to do it? This is business. Green has no right to be in it, stil his promoter managed to put him instead of Taylor. Business again.
It would make sense but it probably depends on who wins. If it is one of the Europeans then I'd like to see them face the winner of a Bute-Pavlik match. If Ward or Dirrell wins I'd like to see them move up and face Dawson at 175. If Bute still has his belt when the tournament is over then he is on the short list of opponents for the winner or runner up.
It would not surprise me to see Bute and Pavlik avoid each other like the proverbial plague, and then compete for the winner at the negotiating table. I know the two fighters wouldn't avoid each other, and I know HBO wants the fight, but promoters and managers do not think like fighters and their fans.
You could be right which would be disappointing. HBO seems to be behind Pavlik more than Bute, but thats now and a fight with the tournament winner won't happen until the end of next year. A lot can change between now and then. One good thing, with the tournament taking up top 168 guys and middleweight being thin, there aren't many options for both guys over the course of 3-5 fights each between now and then.
LOL this is great, its like the super six is nothing more then a tournament for the right to face bute
That's what I was thinking. How can sauerland speak for fighters he doesn't rep? Alos, a lot can happen between now and the end of the tourney. It could be another year and a half. There could be rematches in order that spawn from the tourney. I could see a controversial Ward/AA final in which a rematch would be the way to go rather than a fight vs Bute. Bute could lose. Who knows. I don't think its preordained. Just a likely scenario at the moment.
I find it amusing how so many people are questioning what Bute has done, yet aren't looking at the S6 itself. Bute has beaten better opposition than Ward, Dirrell and Abraham had prior to entering the S6, and had beaten better opposition than Froch up to the point when Froch got Taylor. Bute then was negotiating to unify with Froch when the S6 was announced, making it obvious that Froch was just using Bute as a stalking horse to try to get more money. Anyway, it seems early to announce it now, but if Bute remains undefeated through then, the winner of the S6 will likely need to face Bute anyway to legitimize his throne. Nobody can be called "the man" in the division until a fight with Bute happens.
I can't understand why anyone is getting too excited this far out. You still have the fighter A, B, C paradox that could raise it's ugly little head so that even the 'winner' of the tourney isn't in the clear. Is it possible that someone could beat the eventual winner and not even advance to the second stage? What a mess that would be.
Although I sort of agree, the same logic should be applied to Bute. Although he currently The Ring #1, he could lose that ranking if Ward, Abraham or Froch get through the tourney without a loss. If 1 of them does, it would be on the backs of the other 2 in all probability. That would mean the winner would have beaten at least 2 of the current top 6 ranked SMW. In the case of Abraham, 2 of the top 3. Froch, 3 of the top 6. Ward, 4 of the top 7. His level of competition will most likely not be on par with those 3, although in fairness most of the top guys are involved in the tourney to which he was not invited. All I'm saying is that Bute's ranking at the top is tenuous at best, and he could, and probably should, be replaced at the top if any of these scenarios occur.
